"3232, at N Figueroa St., it's an MVC."

"Shit, I hate these ones."

You nod in agreement, watching as the ambulance turns down the street and is met with red and blue flashing lights.

"Damn, I wonder if they were headed towards the library."

You spot the cars, seeing what you guess to be a driver sitting on the curb, as well as possibly the passenger next to them in a blanket. You swiftly grab your things and hop out of the emergency vehicle.

"Hey Aubry, glad you're here. We got a french foreigner and you'd be great help."

Your eyebrows furrow.

French foreigner?

John begins walking you towards the scene, nitrile gloves fitting onto your hands as you see Sammy hop out the drivers side and follow behind with the stretcher.

"Young adult female, appears to be in her early twenties. She was walking across the street but looked the wrong way when crossing— cause, you know, she's french, and they drive the opposite ways over there. Blue car here swerved out the way and hit Green car, and Green car then swerved into the poor kid. Definite broken left tib fib, thankfully closed."

Your ears pick up on the thick french accent as you reach the girl, who's laying on the road surrounded by other medical staff.

"No! Please stop! No touch! Ne touchez pas! S'il vous plaît, s'il vous plaît, s'il vous plaît, ayez pitié!"

Your heart breaks upon hearing her desperate pleas, and you immediately bend down to her level, going on your knees on the left side of her head.

"Hé, hé, je parle français et je suis là pour vous aider. Quel est ton nom?"

Her head whips around towards the sound of her native tongue, eyes wide as her hands reach out to your face.

"Tu es Français? Comme moi?"

You laugh softly, removing her hands to instead hold them tightly.

"Non, je suis américain. J'ai grandi en Amérique avec des parents français, donc je parle couramment. Comment t'appelles-tu, mon amour ?"

"J-Je m'appelle Billie. Je viens d'Annecy, France."

"Ravi de vous rencontrer, Billie. Je suis Ensoleillé Aubry."

You were about to explain what you're there to do when you're cut off by a yelp, Billie's hands trying to escape your tight grip as your colleagues straighten out her leg.

"Ay! How bout' a warning, dude? You're gonna put her into fucking shock!"

Everyone immediately stops, apologizing as Billie gags, face contorting into a frown as she gulps harshly, attempting to swallow down the bile crawling up her throat.

"On va bouger ta jambe, d'accord? Ils ont déjà redressé votre jambe, maintenant nous devons vous faire monter sur la civière. Comprenez vous?"

Billie nods, closing her eyes tight in preparation and stiffening up her body.

"Relaxer. Souvient toi de respirer."

You place your hand on her stomach taking a deep breath in and letting it out while tapping her, signaling her to try. You feel her belly inflate under your hand, before going back down. After a few breaths, you signal for them to begin transporting her.

As soon as she is lifted up, she cries out, reaching for her leg while you hold her arms back.

"No! Please, dieu s'il vous plaît, mercy! Give me mercy!"

"Billie, we're almost there— presque terminé, presque."

You reach the ambulance shortly, converting the stretcher to become shorter before rolling her into the back of the vehicle.

You go back to grab your stuff that you'd left on the pavement but turn back upon hearing Billie's desperate cries, your heart stinging at the sound of it.

"Ensoleillé! Ensoleillé Aubry! Ensoleillé—"

You hear the sound of gags and liquid spilling onto the floor of the ambulance, followed by more raspy cries of your name.

"Hey," you hop onto the ambulance, closing the doors behind you and walking beside Billie, getting vomit on your shoes in the process.

"You're okay. Relax."

She looks into your eyes for a second, before closing them softly, a deep, shaky sigh coming from her pink lips.

"O-Okay. I am okay. S'il te plaît, peux-tu rester avec moi, Ensoleillé?"

Seeing her tear-filled eyes, you immediately throw out regular protocol, nodding softly and giving her a soft smile.

"Yeah. Je resterai."
