How could this have happed?

Nip must have thought the same thing.

"how could we have let this happen?" said Nip, shocked, wide eyed.

Alex took a breif moment of time to respond. "From now on, one of us have to stay at our den."

Nip looked at the ground, almost too shocked to speak. "We can't, winter is coming and we need to stock up on prey."

Alex had to admit that Nip was right. "We can't let this happen again." Alex growled.

It's odd, we are the only predators in the forest. New predators must have moved in.

"Change of plans, we should probably find who took our prey. We can drive them out of the forest." Alex growled.

Nip shook her head. "We don't know how many there could be. There could be a whole pack of them!"

Alex had to admit Nip was right again. "Let's stick to the original plan. One of us goes hunting and the other stays at the den."

Alex agreed. "I will go hunting first. you stay where you are."

Alex crawled out of his den and padded over to the hunting grounds.

Alex was flooded with the scents of hidden prey.

Alex raised his nose to taste the air. The air smelled odd and unfamiliar.

Alex heard a rustle in the bushes nearby. Alex felt uneasy as the bush rustled. Alex put himself in to a defensive position.

Show yourself.

suddenly a huge muscular predator jumped out of the bushes.
