Traitor

Chapter 6

"I haven't properly introduced myself. My name is shadow." growled The wolf.

Shadow.

Alex still felt unsure about Shadow.

I will never get used to him around here. I will forgive, but I won't forget the fact he killed my tribe.

Shadow shuffled his paws uncomfortably. Shadow must have known what he was thinking. "I had a reason to kill your tribe," Shadow started. "It was an order from my past Alpha. I was ranked low in my pack. To rank up in my pack, I would have to take risks. Attacking your tribe was the only way to rank up in my pack."

"Our Alpha was mean and bossy. He would force us to do things we aren't comfortable with. I was out casted from my pack right after. He told me that I should have told him first before going out on my own." Shadow looked down at his paws.

For the first time, Alex felt a pang of sympathy for the Wolf. Just like Nip and him, Shadow has lost his family. Nip was abandoned when she was just a kit.

"See! He is just like us!" barked Nip as she raised her tail high in the air.

"We should eat now" The wolf growled. "I caught some prey while on your hunt, Alex."

The Wold grabbed a rabbit prom the pile of prey. "For you." Alex almost can't believe he was going to accept the prey form the same wolf that killed his tribe. "Thanks" Alex murmured.

Alex munched down his food was the wolf picked out two squirrels to eat. Nip woofed down her mouse. Shadow looked around.

"We should set up your den up now." Nip barked to Shadow.

Nip nosed a spot near Alex's den and started digging. "This spot would be perfect! "barked Nip happily. "I guess it would do" Shadow murmured. Shadow jumped in and helped. Alex, after a second help as well.

"Now we just need the bedding!" cried out Nip. "Alex, will you go fetch some?" Alex shrugged. "Sure."

Alex bounded off, finding the perfect leaves for Shadow's bedding. Alex scuffled around, looking all over the forest for fine, soft leaves.

Alex finally settled on leaves from a small soft bush.

Perfect!

Alex grabbed a mouthful of bush leaves and bounded back to their dens.

I'm back!

Alex's eyes widened with shock.

Shadow was crouched on the ground, waiting for the right moment to ponce and kill Nip.
