Chapter 8
Natara walked into the cell with a burdensome mind and a pounding heart which could scare any person. To her utmost surprise, the expression of Colton was totally unexpected. He looked at Natara with a pleasing and affectionate expression, her white well cut dress suited well. Furthermore, something beneath his looks was latent, still, Natara thought. It looked as if he was expecting her and was ready to answer any questions. Colton was handcuffed to his chair. Natara pulled the metal chair and sat opposite to him, the usual position. She dusted her new dress to show some concern and care and caressing her hair, she locked her hands around the chair. She shot off with her next interrogation round. It was like a stupid game adapted into real life.
"Who was the person, was it Don?"
Colton seemed to regain his past memory and enunciated in the affirmative.
"Yes, he was Don." Colton said with a sudden fire in his icy cold eyes.
Colton was the sorts who could hide anything. His expressions didn't tell anything, not even his past. He had a strong affluence and influence over himself and his surroundings. He could control anything.
"What did he want?" Natara continued.
"Some vital information." Colton replied with severity in his voice.
"And did he tell you about the money you would get?"
"No, he said that I will get it, just get it." Colton replied.
"And did you?" Natara asked.
"Get my foot. I got this." Colton replied with a bitter taste.
"From where had the information be extracted?" Natara asked.
"The President's authority."
"Do you know anything, what it was?"
"Yes, some of it. Some disc which could reveal the smuggling of some drug lord, Cal-Calo. Anyways, a slip of tongue, I can't remember his name." Colton said.
Natara immediately guessed the name to be Calogero, for whom Don was working. He had certainly gained power over the period of time. Don was brilliant for him. He had just got a gem who could do as he wished, who could gain power in a flick by whatever means.
Natara shuddered at the thought.
"Well officer, the theft was well-charted out. I didn't know who was behind it all. I was made the hacker, the lead person. I was to give them the information which I certainly did but a major point to be noted was that that I was never ever given the hint that my hacking was being taped and the blame finally was to come over me. Don fooled me out very well. Outsmarted me. Left me in a dilemma, I became helpless and flabbergasted. Such a robbery, if you would imagine it carefully was a work of true intelligence." Colton ended, panting for breath.
Natara tried to imagine it but it was just impossible.
"How did you reached to the office?" Natara asked the smartest question.
"We did not do anything. All was pre-planned. The protocol was already connected. I was not informed how." Colton seemed to be sad and tensed. His forehead was covered with tiny droplets of sweat. He had the mystifying and aberrant feeling that something would be going wrong, sooner or later. Natara left him in his thoughts and shut the door with a click.
She headed for the lift to her boss's floor. Natara clicked on the floor number three. The elevator's doors drew apart giving her a view of the cubicles. Natara increased her pace and swung open the glass door on which the name Charles Vito was inscribed in golden letters. She entered inside and glued her eyes to the white marble floor. Charles got up from his seat and asked Natara to sit opposite to him. Natara agreed to the request. Natara told him about the profit and the success with Colton. Charles listened but did not speak. He shook his head. It looked grave, Natara could sense it.
"Now that you know most of it all, make it sure that before Don takes a move, we take." Charles uttered.
Natara knew the truth. She was ready to face the hateful world. She was ready to face the challenges, rather it amazed her that Don was quiet all this time but he was smarter. One move of his would end up the whole thing, everything was to be clearly planned. Every move was to slowly taken. After all, the faster you go, the harder you fall.
