Left behind

Life is crazy at the moment. Damon is here, but isn't. Elena is always here. Rik too. The only person who isn't here and should be is Stefan. I miss him so much, my heart aches. He has been gone for just over 3 weeks now.

I have to sit here and watch as Damon and Elena get closer. I know this will hurt Stefan when he returns, unless Elena drops Damon like garbage and squirms her way back in to Stefan's arms, then it will be Damon who is hurt. It's a lose lose situation. One way or another, I am going to have to watch a brother of mine be broken hearted.

The only good thing that has come from all this mess, for me anyway, is the relationship I have with Elijah. He has literally taken on a fatherly role with me and it's good to have him here. Don't get me wrong, I don't like that he spanks me, but the other stuff I love. He is very attentive, unlike my brothers.

I love my brothers wholeheartedly, but when it comes to their love-lives, I kinda take a back seat. I don't mind most of the time, but sometimes I just need them to be with me - not her! No matter what is going on, I know if I call Elijah, he will drop anything to come to me. He is a good man.

Damon has upped his game when it comes to rules. I think having Stefan taken from us so suddenly has made him wary of everything. I am no longer allowed to do anything unless I am accompanied by himself, Rik or Elijah. I feel suffocated, unless it is going to school. But even then, Alaric is always there, so...

Rik is coming over tonight and is bringing Elena and Jeremy with him, as Damon needs to speak with him about something he doesn't think I should know. There's a surprise.

We all eat our tea, spaghetti bolognaise, around the kitchen table, me fantasising about sticking my fork in Elena's eye. Damon's phone rings and he answers it quickly, without leaving the table.
"Yeah, ok. I'm on my way. Be there asap!" He ends the call, stands up and heading for the front door. "Rik, you ok to wait here? I shouldn't be long."
"Sure," Rik replies simply, standing himself to gather the dirty dishes.

I also stand to leave the table, but unlike Damon and Rik, I am questioned as to where I am going.
"To my room, Rik. Is that a problem?" My tone is full of attitude.
"Yes, actually, it is. I want you to stay where I can see you." He points to the seat I have just left.
"Yeah, no. I'm good." I continue on my way.
"Sophia, sit your butt back down right now!" He demands, sporting an authoritative look.
"No way! I am not sitting anywhere near that!" I say, pointing towards Elena. "Damon isn't here, so I don't have to be."

Elena turns her head towards me, seeing that I am pointing to her.
"Who are you calling that?" She questions, standing up herself. Is she playing with me. Doesn't she know how much I hate her by now.
"You, obviously." Jeremy just sits back and watches the show.

"Sophia, don't talk about Elena like that!" Rik admonishes me.
"Why? I can't stand it!" I blatantly admit.
"SOPHIA!" Rik shouts.
"ALARIC!" I shout back.
"Sit your ass down this instant!" I look to Elena and she is smirking at me, all smug.

I quickly have an idea. I smirk back, heading back to my seat. Without saying a word, I pick up my plate, half full with leftovers and dump it on Elena's head. The shocked look on her face, combined with the strands of spaghetti mingled with her hair, is priceless!
"Not so smug now, are you?"

Jeremy can't control his laughter and neither can I. Rik on the other hand... he is positively raging.
"SOPHIA SALVATORE!" He shouts, using his 'teacher voice'.
"Yes Mr Saltzman?" Jeremy laughs even harder.
"Jeremy, keep it up and your butt is mine!" He warns him. He stops instantly.

"My hair!" Elena exclaims, beginning to cry. That makes me feel even better.
"What's the problem? I put the trash with the trash!"
I know I am in trouble for this, but it is totally worth it!
