A young girl walks through her hometown woods, her small hands tucked inside her long black coat that isn't doing much against the cool night air. She shivers slightly as she steps over another branch going deeper into the woods until she hears a twig snapping. She looked down at her feet to see she didn't step on any twigs and looked around the forest. Her eyes narrowed as she stared into the dark. She pulls her hands out, already thinking of the spell she will use to protect herself. She walks slowly making sure to watch her surroundings closely. Remembering faintly of the creatures her mother warned her that lurked in the night. At the time she thought her mother was only trying to scare her but now she's wishing she had stayed in bed watching reruns of the Nanny.
"Why are you creeping like that?" A childish voice says behind her causing her to turn around and push the person away with her magic a couple of feet. "Carter!"
"Oops." Carter says as she runs to her friend, Tyler, laying on the ground a couple of feet away.
"You didn't have to push me that hard." He whines as Carter helps him up.
"Well, that's what you get for scaring a witch." She states.
"Are we still on that?" He rolls his eyes.
Carter had told her friends multiple times not to scare her or her powers would react badly, but they would always laugh it off as though she was making it up. After a while, she gave up on insisting she was telling the truth and Tyler continued to prank her. She gives him a blank look before taking some leaves out of his now messy dark hair.
"Why did you want to meet this late in the woods anyway Lockwood?"
"I needed some fresh air." He shrugs before walking away.
"You have a massive land surrounding your house," She states following him. "You couldn't just step into your backyard for some air?"
"No." He says flatly. Carter sighs as she follows him until they make it to the Falls. They sit on the grass a couple of feet away from a bridge that crosses over the water. They both just stare into the water before Tyler sighs.
" I'm blacking out again." He starts. " When I get so angry I just blackout and usually you know I would just mess up some stuff in my room but this time it happened outside of my room... and my dad had company over."
