Our trip overseas came to an end much sooner than we wanted even though it was more than a month. It was hard saying goodbye to my new friends along with Josh and Mully. The flight was long and it was much easier coming home versus when we were going to Australia and nobody mistaked us for being married this time.
Our first plane landed at out layover destination only 30 minutes before our next flight to Orlando took off and gates always close 10 minutes before take off. Before we exited the plane, we were informed that our gate had moved and we had approximately 10 minutes to make it to the other side of the airport. We speedwalked up the tunnel until we made it into the airport and took off on foot. I sure as hell wasn't dressed to become a track star and neither was he. We bobbed and dodged people as we ran. He laughed and I was in a panic as I kept checking the time. "This way," he yelled as he rounded the last corner following the signs for which gate was where. "There!" he pointed to the gate at the very end of the hall. The attendant looked to be shutting the door. We made a mad dash as the last ditch effort to make it. We came to a halt in front of the desk and I bent over to catch my breath. "Did we make it?" He asked the lady concerningly.
"Are you the layover passengers?" The lady asked. I shook my head up and down while trying not to die. "Let me call the pilot." She picked up the phone and dialed a number and wait for an answer with an apologetic smile. I didn't catch anything she had said before she hung up and opened the tunnel door.
"Oh thank god." I said as I stood up. Gaege took my hand and pulled my tired body down the tunnel and onto the plane. We got dirty looks just as we did on our last plane to Aus but this time was because we had caused the flight to delay by 15 minutes. We sat in our seats and waited for take off.
"You good?" He asked me. I looked over at him with dead eyes which is all he could see because of the mask. He started to laugh.
"Bro, panic attacks, running, and masks don't mix. I felt like I would die if I wasn't running but I also felt like I was dying while running. That wasn't fun," I answered.
"But we made it," he said with a smile hiding under his mask.
"Someone give me gold medal. I deserve it with how fast we ran." This comment made him chuckle.
"I'll give you a gold medal when we get home." Maybe I thought about his remark a little too hard but it made me comfortable. 'When WE get HOME', Not when we get to his place. Home. I ended up falling asleep most likely because that one long sprint wore me out. "Hex... Hannah. Wake up." I rubbed my eyes, "we landed, wake up."
"I'm awake," I responded as I opened my eyes. My body ached as I grabbed my bag that was under the seat and stood up. He took my hand and dragged my tired body again. The light of the setting sun that shined through the large windows was almost blinding to my adjusting pupils. I eventually caught up to him and he no longer had to pull me through the airport.
We met Kevin out front. I couldn't remember if I had actually met him in person before but we acted like we were old friends. He helped with putting the lot of luggage we had into the back of Gaege's car and even opened the door and moved the seat forward for me to hop into the back. They made conversation as Gaege drove. I listened as I tried to catch the air that came through the open windows on my face.
We pulled into a driveway of a house I didn't recognize. "Where are we?" I asked.
"I thought you would have noticed by now. I moved! Welcome home." I noticed the house was relatively empty except for a few rooms as I explored.
"You have a fucking pool now?" I said excitedly.
"Yeah." He chuckled. "Oh also they boys are coming over soon. We are going to record some stuff."
"That's fine," I partially ignored his statement.
