Today was the day we either win or lose.
A fantasized dream or a nightmare.
Whether we kill him or not, I prayed this wouldn't end in the horrible way I imagined it could.
Griffin and Arya we're preparing themselves downstairs, getting dressed into the gear they were assigned with as I waited for Valentina, who was rummaging through her bathroom for the microphone. "Do you know where I put it?" She called out.
"On the counter," I replied. Right before I fucked you on it.
I crossed my arms as I walked in and saw her tuck a strand of hair behind her ear before she crouched to the lower cabinets underneath the counter, searching through them.
I sighed when spotting the microphone sat on the other side of the sink.
I grabbed it, and slowly pulled her up. She looked confused as I shut the cabinet doors and handed her the small, black device. Her eyes widened, "What— where'd you find it?"
"Don't be nervous, Valentina," I calmly said. Her shoulders relaxed from their tensed state as she exhaled a heavy breath. "Griffin and Arya will be with you. And you're able to talk to me the entire time you're there, whenever you want to."
She nodded, glancing up at me.
She had no idea of the things I felt when she did.
I placed both hands on either side of her face and pulled her in, locking my lips with hers. After a moment, she calmed, and her breathing levelled back to normal before I pulled away, "Let's go get ready, alright? I promise it'll all go as planned."
Even if I was speaking directly to her, I was also convincing myself the same. Even I felt a bit of anxiety bloom in my chest at the thought of her being alone in his home, his building.
I wished that I could go with her, but having being the one in charge, I needed to stay here.
She nodded once again and silently followed me out of the room.

Arya was speaking to Valentina as I stood only a few feet away, in the midst of a conversation with Griffin, who had his guard uniform on, along with Valentina and Arya. It was all black, large pockets for weapons on the sides of it. A replica of the ones Ares' guards have.
It even had their symbol sat above the heart.
And as much as I'm proud of the alikeness of it all, I'll forever have a hatred for the symbol that marks Ares' side. His guards, his fighters, and him. His terror and the nightmares he leaves behind him.
"You'll be watching as we go in?" Griffin assured. I nodded, my arms crossed as he fixed the microphone by his ear. "And listening."
I nodded once more. "We have the whereabouts on the location of the building, so you three will need to look roughly for a few minutes. The driver knows of the plan well, but he'll stay quiet and only speak when spoken to."
