A love story about a boy who lives in a cold world, a girl who lives in a warm world & their journey to find each other. All the while slowly uniting their two worlds and the people that inhabit it.
Inspired by John 17:23 AMPC
The boy stood in the background of his memory and watched it play out until it faded away and left him alone in his dark abyss.
"Traeh. It's been you, hasn't it? The presence I felt listening to me on the orb has been you this whole time? How could I have forgotten something so important? Traeh risked her life to save me. Why haven't I been able to hear her voice until now?"
"Because they did not want you to."
"Who's there?" the boy looked around in the never-ending darkness and saw a light. It had a dull pale blue brightness that glowed white. It danced and swayed even though there was no wind to move it. The boy came closer unafraid of this foreign entity.
"What are you?" Asked the boy.
"I am the fire that resides in your heart, a new life given to you by Traeh and as she saved you, you must now save her."
"Save her? From what?"
"Traeh is dying"
"Dying! But how? Why?"
"She is fading fast we need to hurry and get to her."
"But how?"
"I can help you. All you have to do is accept me as part of your being then we will finally become one entity. With me apart of you we will be able to get to the golden orb and save Traeh."
"Alright," The boy stepped into the dancing flame and let it engulf him. He felt this over whelming energy coming from inside of him. The ice that caged the boy wavered under his oppressive power and shattered. No one knows how it happened, the boy could not even explain it himself, but when he broke out of his prison his body was covered in flames and he transformed into an enormous sapphire phoenix.

He let out a mighty screech that shook his world as he stretched his mighty wings. All the people were awakened from their slumber and rushed outside to try to make sense of the commotion. The boy noticed how the golden orb looked much dimmer than it usually did. This panicked the boy, so he raced to the golden orb's surface his wings let out a violent gust of wind that rivaled a snowstorm, but he was stopped midflight by an unknown force and was thrashed back down to his planet's surface. It took a while for the boy to gather himself but when he did, he saw the frozen ones.
"We cannot allow you to go cool one. Your place is here let go of your impurities and become good again," said a frozen one.
"That again! I told you it's not about being good or bad! I just want to go to the orb and be with Traeh! The boy rose to his feet and tried to fly once again but the frozen ones used their ice magic to bind his wings, "Why, why does it matter to you if I go to her or not?"
"Because if you do then our whole world will change, destruction and chaos will befall us," said another frozen one.
"What are you talking about? You're not making any sense."
"Change is the greatest sin one of us can commit. Look at what is has done to you. It has defiled your form and filled your head with selfish ideas. You would risk everyone's wellbeing for your own desires, you have brought fear to our world, and destruction to our homes, you even broke apart your own family. This is what change is this is what being different causes." A frozen one said to him.
"If this Traeh dies then the orb will become dark, change will no longer exist, and we will finally succeed in making everything pure. This will benefit everyone even you cool one. This is your last chance to repent. Accept our cleansing and be one of us again. If not, it greatly saddens us that we will be forced to remove you from this world. What is your answer?" All the frozen ones walked up to him.
The boy thought about the frozen one's words and looked at the anarchy his existence caused to this world. The world he grew up in with the people he lived with. Their painful tears echoed throughout the land lost and afraid. The boy's world is a vast void of emptiness, which reflects the boy's feelings for his world rather well. They are empty. He did not like nor dislike it. There are things about the world that the boy did not like, but the boy felt empty for the world itself. Until now. Just now, the boy realized, the people's voices and Treah's voice sound the same.
'What am I doing?' the boy asked himself. His world is empty, but it was never sad or lonely. His change single handedly brought sadness and fear to his world. Just like the frozen ones are willing to sacrifice Treah for the people, the boy is willing to sacrifice the people for Treah. The boy is no different from the frozen ones, the people are no different from Treah.
'So why?' the boy thought. He thought about this world, he thought about the people, he thought about the orb, and he thought about Treah. Treah, the warm, kind, beautiful creature he loves so much. A creature so different from him and his cold, but...

"Your face is all red. It looks like mine when I'm happy. I guess we're the same after all"
~
"I refuse! The boy shouted. "You're wrong, about change and about being different. They are not just destruction and chaos they're life itself. They bring hope and possibilities, they allow us to better ourselves, to understand one another, to open ourselves to new things. You've frozen your hearts to all the wonders change can offer and you've fooled yourselves into thinking that being the same means we can't be different. Treah is warm and I am cold but we smile, she lives in light and our people live in darkness but we feel sadness, she brings change and you maintain the same but we cherish. Teah has showed me the truth about change and about being different. It is good. More than chaos and destruction it is rebirth and unity. She opened my eyes to the beauty this world could have in all its changes and similarities; I was reborn through her flame. She risked her life for me, and I won't let your ignorance and fear get in the way of me saving her. Now let me go!"
The flames on the boy's wings grew bigger and engulfed his body in a wild blaze melting the binding spell placed on him. The frozen one's gathered themselves and let out a unified attack of absolute zero. A cold so frigid that it solidified even the soul shattering a person's entire existence. The boy gathered his flame in his beak and fired it at the frozen ones. As the attacks met the cold from the absolute zero began to evaporate and steam filled the air, but as quickly as the attacked evaporated it froze again causing a dense fog. As they appeared evenly matched the boy realized something. As the fire from his mouth blew hot the mist that surrounded the flames on his wings turned to ice and snow. The boy broke free from their stand off and dodged the attack of the frozen ones completely. He flapped his wings and used the wind they created to gather the fog and form a cyclone around the frozen ones leaving them blind and disoriented. With a mighty blast from his body, the boy used his flames to encase the frozen ones in pillars of ice. With no time to spare and the frozen ones safely out of his way the boy rushed to the sphere with only one thought on his mind, Treah.
