Tae Young's Birthday

Note: Tae and Jesse are dating in the one-shot

Aaron Z's POV

He stood on a latter with T at the base.

"Don't fall," he said to him and he couldn't help but roll his eyes. He reached above his head and fastened a balloon to the ceiling, sighing when it fell to the floor. Aaron T let out a laugh and climbed the latter. Z held it steady while the shorter man taped it to the ceiling with ease. It didn't fall.

"All done?" Robaire asked as he stepped into the room. They were at Jesse's parent's house where they were going to host a birthday party for Tae Young. The mocha-skinned man held a cake with doves and their youngest band member's face on it.

Jesse rushed into the room only minutes later. His breath was heavy as he gripped the side of a table.

"He's here!" He panted. All four members exchanged worried yet excited glances before flicking off all of the lights in the room and diving behind whatever furniture they could find. Moments later, there was a hesitant knock on the front door, and Jesse's parent's dog burst out from wherever it was hiding and raced towards the door.

Mary Puppins, the dog, jumped up and barked at the door, her husky barks filling the room. Z glanced at his friend, but T just shrugged.

"We can't just let him in," he said to him.

There was another knock on the front door before the sound of it creaking open filled the room. Mary Puppins stopped barking as soon as she saw who it was.

"Oh, hey," Tae giggled when the dog jumped into his arms. It licked his soft skin with feverish joy. "Do you know where Jesse is?" He asked the dog in a high-pitched coo. The dog only jumped around with her tail wagging faster than a fan. He walked into the house a little further, shadows of confusion prominent on his round cheeks.

Tae hated the dark and it was evident in the way he timidly stepped into the house. He fumbled around for the light switch.

"Jesse?" He called. He held one of his hands close to his chest and squinted in the dark. Finally, his fingers found the switch and just as the overhead lights burst to life, everyone in the room jumped out from their hiding places.

"SURPRISE-!" Everyone shouted before being rudely interrupted by Tae Young.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!" He shouted and jumped with his eyes closed. His head hit the door behind him and Mary Puppins howled when he accidentally landed on her tail.

Tae Young let out another cry and he leaned to check if the sweet dog was okay, but she recoiled in a corner and whined when he approached.

"Puppins!" Jesse wailed as he raced to his dog's aid. Z couldn't help but chuckle as the dog slowly came out of the corner. That was when Tae turned around to look at everyone who stood and watched, stifling their laughter.

"Guys," Tae smiled. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes. "You planned a surprise party for me?"

"Of course!" Aaron T said and jumped up to pull the youngest bandmate into his arms for a tight hug. Z, Jesse, and Robaire pulled the two of them in for a bear hug.

"Happy birthday, Tae," Jesse whispered to the now 21-year-old, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. Tae let out a soft giggle and pulled his boyfriend into his arms. Z glanced at T who was watching them with a small smile on his lips. Z wondered what it would have been like if he and T were dating.

Finally, T pulled away from the crowd. He left the room and returned minutes later with two large bottles of alcohol in each hand.

"LET'S. GET. DRUNK!" He shouted.
