Chapter 3 ~ Racing

Solstice was already up at the crack of dawn. She paced around the living room, panicking about something she had sneezed out, she wanted light to be there since it was still dark and it would be until noon. She stared at the small glowing orb in her talon, she closed it once again and paced. Maniac grumbled, exiting their room and stared at Solstice. "What is in your talon?" She asked, getting closer. Solstice frowned and shook her head, she shrugged, "I think light?" She said, opening her talon, showing her sister. "I wanted light, then I sneezed out this?" She said. Maniac snorted out a laugh, "That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard you say." She hummed, tilting her head as Solstice's eyes widened, "Let me try it again." She said, looking at her sister.

She closed her eyes and wished for more light, before she got the tickling urge and suddenly sneezed, sneezing out three small light orbs. "Ewwwwww...." Maniac said, backing up with a disgusted look on her face. "That's gross." Maniac stated the obvious. "Yeah- definitely." Solstice agreed, grabbing the light orbs and smashing them together which just made one large one with each one combined. Solstice snorted a laugh out at it as she tossed it to Maniac, who jumped back and poked it. "Mom and dad will be awake soon- Tarantula wakes up at food." Maniac hummed with a shrug as she stood up and grabbed it off of the ground, holding the strange glowing orb.

Solstice was now full of her father's good food, she was outside with Maniac, grinning. Tarantula was watching from the window. Solstice counted down, before racing off, much faster than Maniac who raced after her. Solstice dodged through the trees before she took off. They had learned flight awhile ago, Solstice had the perfect build for it, Maniac was quick, and agile, but not like Solstice was. Tarantula was slow and was not the biggest fan of flight. Tarantula back at the house gasped as they took off, quickly disappearing. He took out the door and raced after them, only knowing where they were from their whooping noises.

Tarantula soon spotted Maniac jumping from tree limb to tree limb. Tarantula let out a cry, "Get down! Get down!" He called out loudly to them, hopping into the air, nearly falling back down to the ground, but followed. Solstice was far ahead, holding one of her light orbs, she cackled, half jumping, half flying to each tree. Maniac looked around, and no longer saw the house and got worried- she knew that Black widow, their mother usually had a morning nap right after breakfast then either hunted or cleaned. Maniac stopped chasing and called out to Solstice, "I don't see the house anymore- we should head back!" Solstice cackled, "Why? You a big wussy?" She taunted, pausing to turn to smirk at her older sister.

Tarantula finally caught up to Maniac, who stared at where Solstice once was. "Uhhhhhhhhh..... We should get dad- or mom." Tarantula said, staring where Maniac was. Maniac nodded, "Let's get them." She said, jumping off the branch and then flew back to the house, Tarantula followed her quickly. Maniac landed on the front porch and barged into the house, "Dad!" She shrieked. Asylum got up quickly from the couch, knocking Black widow off and woke her up as well. Black widow and Asylum both stood quickly. "What! What!" Asylum said, flinging his wings open.

"Solstice! Solstice! Me and her were playing around and flying around in the trees! She flew too far and called me a wuss because I wouldn't follow her because I couldn't see the house anymore and she flew off!" Maniac spewed quickly. Asylum stared at the two, "Stay with your mother, both of you!" He said quickly, racing out the door suddenly. Asylum looked around and then flew off in a different direction, calling out "Solstice!" Repeatedly.

Solstice cackled as she flew off, zooming off, before she rested on a branch, way too far from home. It was now about noon, her and Maniac had left around 7 or 8 am, so it had been a few hours. She was tired, she leaned up against the tree trunk. A massive Seawing, mudwing and a rainwing hybrid. She glided down closer, it was darker towards the ground so she summoned a light orb, which caught attention from the mudwing. He turned his head quickly up to her and gave her a fake sympathetic look. "Where are your parents, little one? Come down here." He said carefully, beckoning her down. Solstice gave him a hard glare, and summoned more lighy orbs and began to throw them at him.

The mudwing stared, grinning in interest, "Panther'll like this one." He hummed, before getting hit with the light orbs and wincing. The rainwing hybrid camouflaged and went up behind Solstice, grabbed her barb and her snout and dragged her down, the seawing rushed over and beat her over the head, immediately knocking Solstice out. The mudwing stuffed her into a potato sack, and blind folded her before he did, putting something on her barb so she wouldn't poison him since he had to carry the bag. The group suddenly took off, carrying solstice with them.
Solstice woke up on a table in a dark room. There was very little light, she sat up quickly and looked around. A rainwing that had mostly dark colored scales glared down at her. A weight on her tail, she saw a small iron thing on her barb. The rainwing spoke suddenly, "She seems useless." He said, in a cold voice. "She's an animus- we're sure of it." The mudwing said quickly. The rainwing looked down at her, "Show me what you can do, or I'm cutting your body up into small pieces." He hissed. Solstice yelped softly before she summoned a few different things, a light orb, which casted light onto her face and the table. The next was a small stone, a granite stone, the next was a carved light orb with stone. Panther raised an eyebrow, huffing. "Fine. Here's your payment." He said, stuffing solstice into a travel cage.

Panther tossed a massive bag of gems to the trio, and handed Solstice over to a guard. He walked off, deeper into the cavern, voices getting louder as they went deeper, passing through market ~ 1. He walked to his room and made the guard set Solstice down and then toss her into a bigger cage but lock her up by the ankles and around the waist. Solstice stared up at the guard's face, getting nothing but a cold glare. "Can I at least have a book?" She asked in a small voice. Panther was doing work, he turned his head and snapped, "No." Solstice grumbled softly and tried to use her magic. Her magic failed quickly, the chains enchanted by a previous animus.

Solstice laid down and grumbled, looking at Panther boredly. "Hope you're ready to fight tonight." Panther said suddenly. Solstice looked up, "What?!" She said suddenly, "A fight??" She asked, Panther looked at her and nodded. Panther had a faint smirk, "Your name?" He asked, Solstice looked up, "It's Solstice?" She replied, "Tribes?" Panther asked, writing something down, "I'm a Sand/night hybrid?" Solstice said, frowning. Panther wrote down something again. "'Kay- perfect, and you're an animus, I'm sure to win some big money." He said, smirking. Solstice frowned still at him.
