Dream tries a sippy cup for the first time and uses a new name for one of his caregivers.
—
Dream hasn't slipped in a while. Or slept, for that matter, and the combination of the two is starting to take a toll on him. Work is piling up, videos are being delayed and streams are simply out of the question due to his lack of energy.
He just really needs to rest. Or slip– preferably both.
...
Right now, he and George are on the couch together watching some show he doesn't remember the name of. People are moving on the screen and probably saying...something, but all Dream can really focus on is the soothing motion of George's hand massaging the nape of his neck.
He's practically laying on top of the brunet, completely lax on his chest as they both face the TV. If he were in a better state of mind, Dream would have slipped by now and been all smiles, but alas.
Just as the episode ends, Sapnap joins them on the other end of the couch. Dream can feel the cushion dipping slightly by his splayed out feet where he sits down.
Rustling of a bag makes him shift against George to get a better look at what Sapnap could possibly be doing.
"So," the Texan starts, glancing over at Dream. "I have something for you."
George must have paused the show as he sits up a little and encourages Dream to do the same. Part of him feels like they're both in on this, like this is an intervention of some kind.
He wouldn't put it past them, honestly.
"What are you guys scheming?" He asks, eyebrows furrowed in suspicion. George just smiles and Sapnap does the same– of course they do.
Dream narrows his eyes.
"Just a little gift, nothing crazy," Sapnap chuckles, sounding chill enough, but the words don't ease Dream's skepticism in the slightest. "It's more of a gift for little you, though," he adds.
"Okay," Dream draws out hesitantly, crossing his legs as he sits up all the way, now perfectly in the middle of his friends.
Truthfully, that mention of a gift brought his headspace significantly closer. He can feel it simmering in the back of his mind, making him giddy to see what Sapnap might've got for him.
"I wanna see," he reaches for the bag in Sapnap's lap. Though his hands are quick to fall back in his lap when George quietly reminds him to be patient, darling.
He is definitely well on his way into little space now thanks to that pet name.
"Patient," he echoes, mostly to himself, watching attentively as Sapnap's hand reaches into the mysterious bag and pulls out...
A little gasp of joy topples past his lips when he sees what it is– a sippy cup! Just for him!
"Here you go, baby," Sapnap places it into his patient hands, making Dream tilt his head at him.
"Papa gi' me?" He questions sweetly, holding the plastic cup with both hands as he wonders if it really, truly is a gift for him.
What he just called Sapnap goes completely unquestioned in his foggy mind, fitting in perfectly with how positively tiny he's feeling inside. Sapnap, papa.
Unbeknownst to him, Sapnap and George share a wide-eyed look overtop his head at the new name– this is definitely a first. A good first, though. Sapnap definitely thinks so, at least.
