SARI
"Are you excited?" Ellie poked my rib, grinning from ear to ear as we sat waiting. "Australia. We're going to Australia"
"Yeah, it's so exciting to be on a plane for 22 hours" I reply dryly, rolling my blue eyes as I rubbed my tired eyes.
"We're stopping in Singapore after 12 hours" Ellie said hopefully, her smile dropping a little. I give her a look, causing her to sigh and slump in her chair. "I promise once you're there you'll love it!"
I frown, standing up as the stewardess told us to line up with a bright smile. "You better be right, El" I whisper in her ear as I line up, my overnight bag grasped tightly in my hand. "You better be right" I murmur again, more to myself then anyone else. Ellie grins at me, squeezing my hand tightly before letting it go. I straightened my shoulders and stepped forward, ready to began a new life.

Ellie collapses onto the couch of our new apartment, letting out a tired sigh. "Worst flight ever" She complains into the pillow before flipping onto her back and staring at me.
I leaned against the kitchen counter, dropping my bags onto the floor with a groan. "I just want to sleep forever" I tell her honestly, "Why exactly did we move so far away?"
"We thought Australia was pretty?" She mumbles, laughing lightly as she pushes herself off the couch. "It's one a.m, so night" Ellie stood up and walked further into the apartment before slamming her door shut. I winced before following, entering my own room. It was plain, with white walls and a brass bed in the middle of the room. A set of drawers were pushed up against a wall with a lamp on it. Other than those few things, plus the night stands next to the bed, the room was completely bare.
Too tired to change or brush my teeth, I kicked my shoes off and curled under the cold covers. And that's when I heard it. The moans and séxual noises coming from the apartment to mine. I swore under my breath, picking my pillow up and covering my ears, shutting my eyes tightly, slowly falling asleep.
11 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING
"Sari, Sari!" A body jumped on mine, their thin arms wrapped around my tired and aching body, "Wake up! We have a full day ahead of us!"
"Let me sleep" I pushed Ellie off of me before rubbing my eyes, opening them slowly. Ellie stood over me, bouncing excitedly. "Can't we do nothing today?"
"Nope!" Ellie grabbed my arm, pulling a face. "Damn girl, brush your teeth"
I roll my eyes and let her drag me out of my uncomfortable bed. My feet hit the floor and I stood up, glaring at my best friend. "What's for breakfast?" I ask her.
"I don't know, we'll find somewhere" Ellie replied as she shoved me towards the bathroom we had to share. "Just have a shower or brush your teeth, or something. At least look presentable"
I close to the door before turning around and facing our small bathroom. It was clean, thankfully and the floor was already wet from Ellie having a shower. Ignoring the shower, I turned to the basin and stared at my tired face. My blonde hair, normally straight, was frizzy from not being brushed for a while. I had inherited my mum's blue eyes and blonde hair and my dad's dark skin. I was named after the Indian dress, as my parents had met in India where they fell in love. My mum, or so I was told, was wearing a Sari when they first met, and they promised to name their first daughter Sari. I thought it was a beautiful name that meant something special to my parents, so I wore the name in pride.
I looked down to see my toothbrush already in the holder next to hers. I quickly brushed my teeth before brushing my hair. Ellie banged on the door, telling to hurry up or she was leaving without me. I set the brush down and opened the bathroom door, frowning at Ellie who threw clothes at me - denim shorts from topshop along with a plain white shirt. "Make it quick, alright?"
I laugh lightly at her demanding tone before walking into my bathroom and stripping down. Ellie had placed my deodorant and Victoria Secret perfume neatly on my dresser, next to a couple of bobby pins and hair ties. I quickly spray deodorant on before sliding my shirt over my torso, as well as my shorts. After a few sprays of perfume, I was kind of ready to face what Sydney had to offer. Ellie was waiting for me by the door, swinging the key on her finger as she hummed a song. "About time" She grumbled before pulling open the door and pausing, causing me to stumble into her.
We watched, speechless, as a young girl ran past us, sobbing loudly. She tripped over her own feet but managed to catch herself and instead of taking the elevator, she pushed open the door for the stairs and ran down them. I turned my gaze from the closing door to the apartment next to ours, the one the noises last night were coming from and watched as a boy around my age stood there smugly, his arms crossed over his chest, winking at Ellie and I before spinning around and entering his apartment.
"What an ašshole" I say loudly. I knew he heard; I heard him laugh loudly and yell something incoherent back. "That wasn't a very good impression of Australia, El" I say to my shocked best friend.
