"Frank she needs a tutor!" Evelyn Adler said fighting with her son out at a beachside restaurant.

"And Diane wanted her to just be a normal kid." Frank said. Frank Adler, a man in his 30's who was caregiver and provider for his 7-year-old niece Mary. His sister Diane had killed herself on Frank's bathroom floor when Mary was a baby. Frank was on his way to a date and he has felt guilty ever since and only wanted to do what he thought Diane would want for her daughter.

"Frank when I gave up going after custody of Mary to get her the education she needed you promised me we could get her the tutor in at least mathematics since that what she is thriving in." Evelyn said and Frank groaned.

"I can't afford a tutor right now Evelyn." Frank said.

"And you could afford a tutor if you would go back to teaching." Evelyn said and Frank groaned.

"Teaching isn't who I am anymore, it doesn't make me happy." Frank said.

"And fixing boats does?" Evelyn said and Frank nodded.

"It does." Frank said and then looked at his watch.

"Is there an end coming to the conversation. I have to go get Mary at school." Frank said and Evelyn groaned and handed Frank a card.

"Call this number Melina Collins, one of the best tutors in the area, math whiz herself and she will be all paid for." Evelyn said and Frank looked at the card and huffed a laugh.

"I will think about it." Frank said and Evelyn groaned and leaned in the table.

"Damnit Frank just do this one thing for me! You wont let me put Mary where I want to, to give her the education she deserves will you please just call her. She can come to you, she can come to Mary's school, she can meet you guys anywhere Frank. Just please call her." Evelyn said and Frank sighed

"Fine! I will call her tonight." Frank said. Evelyn smiled and looked at Frank.

"Thank you." Evelyn said. She looked at Frank and grimaced.

"And please start wearing sunscreen." Evelyn said.

"I do wear sunscreen." Frank said.

"Wear more." Evelyn said and stood up.

"Call her." Evelyn said and walked away leaving Frank sitting at the table. He looked at the card and sighed putting it in his pocket. He then put some money on the table to cover the drinks and tip and got up. He had to go pick up Mary from school.

Frank picked Mary up from school and they went home.

"So I met with your grandmother today." Frank told Mary after they ate dinner and were sitting in the living room of their tiny apartment.

"What did she want?" Mary asked.

"Well she wants me to get you a tutor for math. I wanted to get your input before I just called this person." Frank said and Mary smiled.

"Frank please!" Mary asked jumping on him while he relaxed on the couch.

"You want a tutor, someone here all the time, someone shoving math in your face every day?" Frank asked.

"Yes! Please!" Mary begged and Frank sighed.

"Okay fine." Frank said and Mary leaned down and kissed his cheek.

"Thank you so much!" Mary said and jumped off him and ran through the apartment. Frank got up and went to his room shutting the door. He pulled out the card and his cellphone and then looked down.

"Diane, you got to tell me if this is what you want. I don't know anymore." Frank whispered to himself knowing his sister wouldn't answer him. He sighed and dialed the number.

*****NORMAL POV*****

I was sitting in my house with my cat in my lap and I sighed knowing in needed to find a tutoring job soon. Not working wasn't paying the bills. I was about to make late dinner when my cellphone rang.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Is this Melina Collins?" I heard a voice ask and perked up.

"It is." I said.

"This is Frank Adler, I got your card from my mother." Frank said.

"Oh okay. What can I help you with?" I asked. I knew I hadn't handed out a business card in awhile.

"Well I am wanting to hire you to come and tutor my niece." Frank said. I could tell he wasn't sure about this or unsure of just me.

"Okay when would you like to get started?" I asked and he sighed.

"Can you come by tomorrow around 3? I will send you my address." Frank said.

"Of course, that would work." I said and smiled knowing I was getting a job.

"Okay tomorrow at 3." I said.

"Great, this is just going to be a meeting though so you have a chance to get to know Mary." Frank said.

"Of course." I said and sighed knowing he was going to be a tough nut to crack.

"Is there something Mary is particularly interested in so I know what material to bring?" I asked.

"Differential Equations." Frank said.

"Okay, wont be a problem." I said.

"Tomorrow, 3." Frank said and hung up before I could say anything else.

"Okay then." I said and looked at my cat Cleo who was purring while she laid in my lap.

"Well mom got a job, so we can eat still." I said and she meowed at me.

I walked up the walkway to the address I was sent to me to go meet Frank and Mary Adler. I was wearing a sky clue cotton sundress that had cap sleeves. I was trying to dress professionally but also trying to beat the Florida heat. I walked up the few steps at the apartment and I knocked. The door opened and I saw a lady standing there and she smiled at me.

"Melina?" She asked and I nodded.

"I'm Roberta, I'm here watching Mary, Frank got held up at work." Roberta said and opened the door and I walked in. I saw a little girl sitting at the coffee table on her mac book.

"That's Mary." Roberta said and I looked in somewhat shock.

"Wait...I was told the person I was tutoring was working on college-based material." I said to Roberta and she smiled.

"She is the one who is working on said material." Roberta said and I half nodded. I felt like I was being pranked. I just walked over to her and sat on the couch next to her.

"Mary...I'm Melina." I said and she smiled at me.

"Nice to meet you." Mary said.

"Nice to meet you. Can I see what you are working on, on the mac book?" I asked and she showed me and I was in shock because it was work I hadn't seen until my second year of college.

"Wow." I said and Mary smiled.

"Are you my tutor?" She asked and I nodded.

"I am." I said and she smiled at me.

"Then can you help me with this problem I am stuck on?" Mary asked and I smiled.

"Of course I can." I said and she showed me the problem and we started working on problems.
