It had been a couple of week since Carol and Susan's wedding. Joey and Ashley had been hooking up frequently since, but never actually confronted each other about what was going on.
The two were laying in the boy's apartment watching 'Die Hard' while Chandler was at work. Joey had his arms lightly draped over Ashley's body as they enjoyed each other's presence.
"Hey, Ash?" Joey got the girl's attention.
"Yeah, Joe?" She looked up at him with a soft smile.
"What are we?" He blurted out.
"What do you want us to be?" She challenged him.
"Well, I like you... A lot, and I want take a step towards something further."
"Mhm." She hummed into his chest. "Okay, well what if we do take this further, but we don't have to put a label on ourselves. We can just see how we do, so that way our friendship won't be damaged if it doesn't work out."
"I like that." He grinned.
"But we don't tell anyone." She pointed at him.
His face fell at this. "Yeah, okay."
☕️ A couple of hours later Phoebe, Chandler and Ashley were sitting around the coffee table at Monica's place while Ross was sat at the kitchen table.
The phone rang causing Ross to pick it up. "Hello?"
"No Rachel's not here right now. Can I take a message?" He spoke into the phone. "Alright, and how do we spell Casey? Is it like 'At The Bat' or 'And The Sunshine Band' Okay, Bye-Bye."
Ross put down the phone and stood up lifting the piece of paper he had been writing Casey's name on so he could put it on the fridge.
"Hey, who's this, uh, this Casey?" He asked his three friends.
"Oh, this guy she met at the movies." Phoebe responded.
"Yeah, he's really cute, kinda dreamy." Ashley spoke in awe.
"Oh, really?" Ross let out a dry chuckle at the her comment. "What does he want with Rachel?"
"Well, i'm guessing he wants to do a little dance...You know, make a little love, and...Well, pretty much get down tonight." Chandler replied causing giggles to escape from Phoebe and Ashley but Ross to frown even more.
Ross lifted the note back off the fridge and decided to hide it in a cupboard above.
"Hey, Ross you can't do that." Ashley pointed. "Just because he's hotter than you does not mean you can deprive her of possibly the love of her life."
