It had been four years since Davina had started living in Bluebird orphanage. It was located in surrey. The orphanage was a big Tudor style house made of wood and brown bricks with a big backyard filled with toys suited for many different ages.

It was a quiet morning which was very unusual. All over the house the occupants were walking around cautiously, looking for hidden traps. Because today was March 5th, Davina's birthday. And Davina's birthday was the one day of the year she did not get into trouble for pranking, and she took full advantage. She had already put glitter and flour into several of the hairdryers.
All of a sudden the silence ended with a huge BOOM! The a shrieking voice yelled "DAVINA!!" Out of the bathroom in one of the downstairs hallways, came a women. Sarah was a tall, slim woman with blonde hair and soft brown eyes. although you couldn't see much of her blonde hair right now. From around the corner came a little girl. She was petite and short with delicate yet sharp aristocratic features, she had long black hair which was braided back in two Dutch braids tied of at the base of her neck where the rest of her hair fell down her back in waves and curls. She had grey eyes like liquid mercury. Eyes that were filled to the brim with mischief and laughter. A cheeky grin was on her full pink lips, and the second this girl saw Sarah she burst into laughter.

Sarah was covered head to toe in bright blue paint. "Paint bomb in the bathroom, really?"

Davina snorted "come on, that's one of the classics!" She still had the grin on her face as she threw her arms out. "Remember, no punishments for the birthday girl." She wagged her finger at Sarah.

Sarah smiled a little. "Happy 9th birthday DJ. I'm gonna go get cleaned up, you get some breakfast." The older woman pointed down the hall towards the kitchen.

"Aye aye captain!" Davina gave a salute before she sauntered off.

Once she got to the kitchen, the table was already set and two boys were already sitting there. Adrian, the oldest boy at 14, had sandy blonde hair and light green eyes. Next to him was Walter. He was 11 years old with dark brown hair and eyes with an olive skin tone.
They both looked up when Davina sat down in front of them.

"Happy birthday Vina." Adrian said through a mouthful of waffles, Walter nodding along.

Davina smiled "many thanks my dear friends." She said as she helped herself to toast and scrambled eggs. Then she threw herself back into her chair, which almost tipped it over though she didn't notice, and said dramatically "But unfortunately you will not be graced with my divine presence for most of the day." She said with a faux look of sadness on her beautiful features. "I'm going down to the new bookshop that opened in town." The boys nodded. It became quiet as the three kids ate their breakfast. Just as Davina finished, Sarah walked in. She was now in clean clothes with damp hair. As she sat down, Davina got up. "I'm gonna head out, I'll be out most of the day." Sarah gave a nod, and Davina ran up to her room to get ready.

As she walked in, Anna was sitting at her desk painting her nails. Anna was one of the girls Davina shared a room with. She was 12 with cocoa colored skin and dark brown corkscrew curls.
She gave Anna a nod as she walked to her stuff. They didn't hate each other but they didn't particularly like each other either, and since they were both smart girls and knew they were probably going to live together for a good while, they both made an effort to keep it civil.

She grabbed her leather jacket and her small over the shoulder bag, the bag had an undetectable extension charm on it. Her father had given it to her when she was four.

She walked downstairs and out the door and locked it behind her. She took a breath of the fresh air and started walking down the driveway.
