We remained quiet until Mr. Afton and dad left. I don't know what were they doing here and how did they find out about this but i thought they had their ways to find out things like that. I was kneeling down, my legs already getting tired. I held Elisabeth's ribbon firmly in my grip. My hands were all sweaty and for some reason, i was holding Mike's hand.
"There's someone in here and whoever it is, he'll pay for this!" I heard Mr. Afton's cold british voice, echoing through the corridor of the backrooms. Yeah, only if they found out, we were both screwed. I heard some steps in the main hall, eventually leading to leaving. There were no more steps or voices that we could hear. I started talking, not whispering but also not being so loud.
"Look, i found this in the backroom!" I said, strategically. I let off the ribbon of my grip and showed to to Mike. He grabbed it and inspected it, quickly.
"I'm gonna keep that, it's a clue" He said, seriously, for some reason still holding my hand. We got out of our hiding place and we left the backrooms.
"I think there's no point in looking anymore..." I said, tiredly, yawning afterwards.
"Tired, are you?" Mike asked, smirking.
"Let's go now" I said and headed to the exit, that's also an entrance.

The cold night breeze started blowing my face and my body, gently. The dark night made the atmosphere scary and mysterious. The street lamps were lighting up the smooth grey cement and the cars, parked in the parking lot. Weather like this makes me want to have more night walks.
After that i thought, why not actually have more night walks? It's not a waste of time and it's better than laying on my bed and looking at my phone.

I just stayed outside in front of the main doors and Mike was looking at me since i didn't move anywhere. I was distracted from the beauty of the night landscape.
Then of course, someone had to ruin the nice moment and the only person around to do that was Michael. He coughed and got my attention by that.
"Uhm.. Yeah, sorry.. We have to go!" I said absently, jumping a bit. He didn't answer so we both just started walking back home.

I already knew that our way home would be terrible. Mostly because there is a long way from the pizzeria to the house and I will have to walk a lot. Then because I'm tired and I desperately need some sleep. My gait was extremely tired and slow. I'm even surprised that I caught up with Michael when he was walking much faster than me.
The most interesting thing was that all the time I did not think about what I found in the pizzeria and it may have been evidence of a terrible discovery. Is it really as bad as it could be? Or do I just overreact? It's good that I have Michael who will help me find more evidence of this.

I'm definitely tired so probably the next day, i'll be in better shape to find out.

All this time, i thought about things... Significant or not. Mostly i thought about that case and all, then the next second i thought about things that had nothing to do with it.

We were really close to my house. My grumpiness was gone when i realized that. I was waiting for this for so long. The only problem is... How am i going to go back home when it's not the best idea to walk out of the front door in the middle of the night?
Do you i really have to go through the window to my room? I guess, i do...

We made it to my house. I checked my watch to see written "4:30". Anyone who dares waking me up before 10 am, is going to pay for this. No matter if it's dad, Charlotte or Mike.
"I guess, i should go, bye babe!" I said and kind of walked to him. Then i kissed him on the cheek but i guess he wasn't happy with it, so he kissed me again. It was kind of a longer kiss but.. I loved it.
Unfortunately, i had to pull off and go.
"Bye! See you later!" I said, getting farther from him and waving. I didn't hear if he said bye but i saw him waving at me so it doesn't really matter.

I went in the backyard and looked at my window. I saw a ladder that i used to jump out. I let out a loud sigh and started going towards the ladder.

I ended up almost falling but i somehow made it home... Alive. Yeah, it's true i was almost going to fall down the ladder and die... But who cares, i did it!
I looked around my room, barely seeing anything. Several times I stumbled on various things or kicked my toes on the bed, on the desk or somewhere else. I still managed to find the key to the lamp. I snapped it and the whole room lit up, making my eyes close slightly. I hadn't seen light in so long that my eyes began to ache when the lamp came on.
I quickly dressed up in my pajamas, covering my eyes with my hands and then i snapped the lightswitch again and stopped covering my eyes.
I laid down on the bed and tightly wrapped myself in the soft blankets. I closed my eyes in less than a minute and fell asleep, still in my comfy, soft bed.
