Today was another big day. School starts today and I'm very excited. I wasn't expecting to be this excited, afterall i'm just now about to be in a new side of the world I haven't seen before. Somewhere outside of these walls, yet I was still scared. I could get killed now since I've graduated. So, I came up with a route. Since the school wasn't that far away I could take the sewer system underneath the street and get there while being in a pretty safe spot.
As soon as I woke up, I took a shower and got on some nice clothes.
"Now you're gonna dress nice huh?" My dad mocked.
I didn't listen to him and said goodbye to my family as I walked out the door. I went down the stairs in a hurry and ran to the front door. The guy working the counter said good morning to me, but I rudely ignored him. I got out onto the street and stopped. The smell of the air was pretty disgusting, smelling a lot like a fire. The sky was gray and a lot of the buildings around our stable were very decrepit. I looked around and saw the sewer grate and ran over to it as quickly as I could. Lifting the cover off and putting it back on after I got on the ladder, I climbed down.
The sewer smelled rotten, I know not very surprising. I wrote down the path that led to the street the school was on. Go left, right, left, straight forward then another right and I'll be there. While walking I was about to turn right when I heard people talking up ahead. I hugged the wall and peaked my head around the corner and saw two people at the end of the ladder. One was a female who was a redhead and the other one was a tall man with black hair covering his face. They both were wearing the same clothing, a dirty looking rag that they wore as a shirt and stitched and patched leather pants.
"Why are you forcing me to do this?" The girl whined.
"Because I said so! Now stop whining and let's go. It should be here." The guy said back.
"Why do I have to listen to you anyways?" The girl pouted.
"Stop asking me questions and get a fucking move on! I knew taking you with me would be annoying." The guy hissed back at the girl.
They didn't speak to each other after that, instead they climbed the ladder, opened the manhole cover then closed it. Who were those people? Are they also going to school? I had to find out. After five minutes I went over to the ladder and climbed up it, and with a little hesitation, opened the manhole cover and climbed out.
Right in front of me was the school which looked so out of place. It was a white building that was very wide and only one story tall. It looked like it was freshly painted white. It really stood out, you could probably see it from space. I as so starstruck i didn't even close the manhole cover when out of nowhere a car came speeding down the street,
I freaked out and barely made it out of the way as it sped past me and down the street. I almost fucking died! But, I didn't. I guess my reaction time has gotten better. I got up from the ground and approached the building. The door was a nice wooden door that was shiny with a handle on it. The weird thing is this door didn't have a doorknob, just a handle on it that's used for knocking. I reached my hand out and grabbed the handle and knocked. I knocked exactly three times and a few seconds later the door opened.
There was a guard wearing a mask with the government symbol on it completely covering his face. He was also wearing a black armored vest and black pants that had many pockets that held grenades and other little things that I didn't recognize. It took me a second to realize he was pointing a gun at me. I was too scared to move and only froze there.
"Are you here for school?" He asked, his voice muffled due to the mask.
"Y-y-yes" I stuttered.
"Come in!" He commanded, motioning me to come inside.
I walked in and the whole room was pitch black as I walked in. The only light was coming from the sunlight outside. I was pushed in by the guard and he closed the door behind me.
"Five minutes! Before we lock the doors for good!" The guard yelled behind me. Before the door closes for good? What does that mean?
"Hopefully that's the last guy." Someone said in the darkness. It didn't sound like the guard because the voice wasn't muffled. It sounded like it was right in front of me. The voice sounded familiar and then I remembered the people I saw in the sewer earlier. Was it that guy?
"Hello?" I nervously said.
"Hey!" A girl shouted out, a little aways from me. I couldn't see her but her voice also sounded familiar. It was most likely that girl from the sewer as well.
"It's pretty dark here. When are they gonna turn the lights on?" The girl questioned. No one responded, we were only met with silence.
After five minutes passed, the guard shouted.
"Time's up! Locking the door now!"
The guard locks the door behind me and the lights turn on. I was flashbanged by the light as it turned on, like walking out of the movie theater and the sun directly hitting you in the face. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw five other people, a boy and a girl, which I saw in the sewer earlier. A boy sitting against the wall over near the corner. And I saw a girl sitting on a chair that was weirdly placed in the middle of the room. This building had a stage and the whole room was the building. It was like being inside the auditorium at my school or the gym.
As I looked around the room, I was shocked. I saw a very familiar face. Slinca was there. Looking at paintings on the walls.
Why was she here? I asked myself. She didn't need to improve her fighting skills, so why is she taking this class? I was a little hesitant to walk up to her. But, I gathered the courage and approached her.
"Slinca?" I inquired.
Slinca let out a gasp as she heard my voice, and turned around to me.
"Holy shit!" She yelled. "Lee? Didn't expect to see you here."
"Same goes for me." I said as we hugged.
"I thought I would never see you again." She exclaimed.
"Me too, guess we said our goodbyes too soon huh?" I said.
"Well, well don't we have two little love birds here!?" The guy in the corner interjected. The guy stood up. He was wearing a nice white shirt with new looking jeans. He had slicked back black hair and hazel eyes. "Didn't expect there to be more annoying people in here after the siblings came in." The guy said as he pointed over at the boy and girl with the rags.
"What did you say you little shit?" The guy next to the girl with the rag snarled. He walked over to the guy with the nice white shirt. "I'll pummel you if you say that shit one more time!" He growled as he was right in the face of the guy with the white shirt.
"Then fucking do it, you pussy!" The guy with the white shirt snapped back.
"Please!" The girl ran over. "Please! Please! Don't fight. Let's just get along." She pleaded.
"I agree" A voice that wasn't coming from the commotion or anyone else that was in the room but coming over a speaker. "If you do fight before class starts." The voice continued on. "I would have to expel you!" The voice was coming from the stage and all of us looked over. There he was, the guy in the red and blue mask. Yurinami.
