Chapter 3

"Hey...hey...Hazel!" I furrowed my brows as I slowly opened my eyes. It was him.

I got up with a start and shifted uneasily.

"Hi,sorry for waking you up,it was getting boring" I rolled my eyes,oh he's talking to me casually now,like it's okay to be a freaking huge werewolf.

A knock came on the door. I realised I was in bed.

"Alpha Devon?" I glanced at him.

"What is it" Devon said within clenched teeth as he left my side and walked to the door.

"Lunch is served" Wait...has he been here the whole time?

"Noted" He growled and walked back to me. He was so handsome,I just...couldn't,but I don't want him around me,I can't believe what I just saw about him and I'm frightened.

"Stay away from me you...beast" He stopped in his tracks and just stared at me. He looked surprised and hurt.

"Leave...please" I thought that what if he's not around some day and some wolves try to eat me. I wa so scared my heart was racing widely. I can't even trust him and whatever bullshit he's saying about mate and protection.

"Hazel,I-"

"Devon go away! I'm fucking scared...it'll be better if you're out!" It was the first time I called his name and it sounded nice in my head. He ran his fingers through his head,his beautiful green eyes trying not to look at mine.

"Don't tell me to leave,you'll be in so much pain if I leave!" He growled almost loud for my ears. That caused tears to fill my eyes.

"Go away! Get out! You're scaring the shit out of me!" He growled and walked towards me.

"I am trying to help you Hazel,you need me as much as I need you. You can't survive without me"

"I don't care...I never asked for this,why did you do this to me!..." He just stared at me without replying. I sighed and rubbed my aching neck.

"Just go away,if you wouldn't let me" I looked out the window,not wanting to hear anything else. Few seconds later,I heard the door close softly. The soft impact made my my heart ache. I covered my face with my palms and sobbed quietly.

After taking a shower,I threw on some clothes and just sat on the bed with my knees up my chest and my arms wrapped around them. Slowly,I started feeling pain around my body again. It was increasing slowly,from my neck to my head and all over my inner muscles. It was killing me,it was something worse than muscle pull or menstrual cramps.

I covered my mouth and screamed in pain,I never imagined it to get this worse. I rolled over in bed,holding my head. I couldn't stop myself from screaming out loud. I knew everyone in the house could hear me,including...Devon. Devon,was he right? No,I hate this,I hate him. He's the cause of my pain. He said he would never hurt me but he did.

The pain subsided but just when I thought that was it,it came again with maximum force. I rolled out of bed in need of relief,crawling towards the door and crying. When I got to the door,I suddenly felt a little,intsy relief.

"H-help me...please" I managed to say. The door quickly opened and Devon fell to my side,pulling me in his arms. He didn't say a word to me and just held me close to him. The skin to skin contact,sent relief to my whole body instantly. My intense crying reduced to little sobs,his fingers rubbed circles around my arms,his heart still beating widly in his chest.

"I'm sorry" He muttered and I felt his lips kiss my forehead.

"I guess you were right...I'm sorry for yelling at you. You saved me,but I ws being ungrateful. It's just...I'm so scared and I miss everyone I left back there,especially May"

"Hazel-"

"Yes?" I raised my head to look at him. His eyes showed me love and care and affection.

"Stay with me...please-" He paused and waited for my reaction. I just stared at him. He continued. "I need you,you might think I can easily let you go but I can't,werewolves can't live without their mates,especially if they have found out who they are-" He helped me sit up and cupped my cheeks.

"You're beautiful" He smiled and I couldn't stop myself from smiling too,even chuckling.

"It's so nice to see you smiling at me,you've always kept that... beautiful,yet frustrating frown" He kissed my forehead again.

"Hazel please,I need you to understand that I would always protect you and with my life. I'm starting to love you as my mate" Those words my heart flutter. I rest my head against his chest,wanting to feel more of him.

"I'm sorry for forcing you into this" He wrapped his arms around me. His warmth engulfed me half aching body.

"Thank you Devon,for being patient with me...and for waiting at the door" I heard him laugh a little which somehow sounded like a deep growl from his chest. I wrapped my arms around his torso,not wanting to feel that pain ever again.

"Come on,you haven't left this room since you got here,and you haven't had anything to eat" My stomach grumbled again and I cursed inwardly,shutting my eyes.

He took my hand and helped me up. "You smell sweet" He slightly licked his lips,avoiding my stare. I definitely did not shower with candy.

I just stared at him. Suddenly I started blushing when he rubbed the back of his neck. "Are you blushing?" I asked him,seeing his cheeks turn pink. He coughed awkwardly and looked away. "I'm not" I laughed shortly.

"Gimme sometime to freshen up,I look like shit"

He studied me quietly and tilted his head to the side. His eyes moving over my body slowly. "Do you need my opinion on that?"

"Just excuse me Devon" I chuckled and gently turned him towards the door. He took his hands up defensively and opened the door,walking out. He took one last stare at me before smirking and shaking his head. I rolled my eyes and shut the door after him.

I sighed and quickly left to wash my face and rush back out the door,to see Devon standing there in a blue shirt,with the sleeves rolled up and black trousers. I wondered how fast he was to get dressed in seconds. He pulled out a rose from behind him and put it close to his eyes,glancing at it before smirking at me.

I felt butterflies in my stomach. This man looks so...intimidating but still,there is this side of him that I'm slowly getting fond of. I walked to him and he took my hand,placing the rose in my hair. He kissed my forehead and said words I've never been told.

"Now you're even more gorgeous,my queen"
