Chapter 1
What does a man or a woman can do without their freedom?
"I can't tell if there's anything brighter than the stars. Oh, how I wish I knew what it would be."
A man with a blurry vision murmured while pointing at the christmas lights na nakabitay pa rin sa may bandang uluhan niya kahit tapos na ang pasko.
He was about to drink the remaining beer from its bottle pero kumunot ang noo niya nang mapansing walang pumatak na liquid galing dito.
He shook the bottle and gave up eventually noong mapagtantong wala na nga talagang laman ito. Disappointed, he sighed at napatingin ulit sa mga christmas lights.
He seemed to have a dull evening despite having a reunion with their other families. Sino bang matino ang sinosolo ang inumin during reunion?
"Oh so bright, oh so bright, but no one can reach it~" He stopped for a while to put a stick of cigarette into his mouth para sindihan ito.
"So now, it's just me and my cigarette —"
"Ano pong nangyari sayo?"
A girl's voice came from behind him, making his own song with an unknown tune came to a standstill. He turned back to face her curiously, only to see his 9- year old cousin who's currently holding a pizza at nakaharap sa kanya habang nagkasalubong ang kilay. Probably curious about what he's doing.
"Ah, gah! Great, now you're here." he grunted at mabilis na ibinalik sa bulsa ang hawak na lighter at yosi. "Come, sit."
The disgusted cousin immediately distanced herself. Bukod sa nababadtrip siya sa amoy ng kuya, alam niya ring hihingian lang siya nito ng pizza at uutusan na naman.
"Ew, ayoko nga. Amoy bulok ka na nga oh, madudumihan mo pa dress ko."her face says it all. Maarte itong nagstep aside at kumagat sa pizza niya.
The rejection made him snort at napaamoy siya sa sariling damit.
"So, what do you want, kid?"he asked. The cousin licked her fingers first pagkatapos nitong maubos ang pizza bago sumagot.
"Kasi, kanina ka pa hinahanap ni mommy, pabibilhin ka sana ng more case ng- hmmm, ano ulit yon? Ah! That drink na ininom mo po ngayon."sagot nito kaya napalingon siya dito.
"Really?"he unbelievably asked. Who the hell is going to sell them beverages at 12 a.m.? He scoffed bago sagutin ito.
"You're silly, aren't you?Baka midnight na little Lair? Gusto mo bang may makisakay saking Pennywise habang nagdadrive para lang bumili ng case ng beer ganitong oras?"nakangiwi niyang tanong at inayos ang button ng polo.
The kid just shrugged."Basta kanina ka pa hinahanap nila tita at mommy kaya lagot ka pa rin."she replied while pointing her index fingers at him na parang nagbabanta.
He was about to speak nang inunahan ulit siya nito.
"Oh, and by the way, sabi ni mommy papuntahin ka raw ulit sa loob and the reason is. . ." she flashed a big annoying creepy smile na parang nagreready para mangsurprise.
