Daenerys Targaryen, Daughter Of King Aerys and Rhaella Targaryen, hated this place.
It was almost surprising because Dragonstone is her home, before her exile. She had thought that when she will finally return here, she will feel joy.
But that was not the case.
When she first landed on the beaches of Dragonstone and touched the sand there, she didn't felt any joy or sense of accomplishment. Instead she felt a dull ache in her chest, when she realised that this is place where her mother had died.
Truthfully she never wanted to return to Westeros. No she was content to be the benevolent ruler of Meereen and Dragonstone. Helping liberated slaves find their true purpose in the world.
But then everything changed when The Spyder Varys introduced Aegon Targaryen, her supposed dead nephew, to her. The Spymaster said that he had smuggled Aegon during the sack of King's Landing and replaced him with another child.
It was a farfetched theory, which sounded very suspicious. But when Ser Barristan Selmy said that this man looked very similar to her late brother Rhaegar and one of her Dragon, Rhaegal, bonded with Aegon, did Daenerys believed that he is her nephew.
