Breakthrough: Season One

Episode 3: Starting Today

The episode takes place a few weeks after the last one, starting off with HERSHEY and SHADOW at the auditorium, HERSHEY performing a solo to "Don't Rain on My Parade".  After the song is over, she joins SHADOW off stage, they give each other a friendly hug.

SHADOW: That was amazing. You're so talented. That song is perfect for the next video.

HERSHEY: Thank you. That was mainly just improv dancing up there. Violet has been working with me and one of her students on a dance for the actual video.

SHADOW: Do you need help filming again?

HERSHEY: Yes, please. That would be so helpful.

SHADOW: Of course, just let us know when you're ready.

HERSHEY: I think we could do it on Saturday. I'm very ready to post this already. I know Violet won't take too much longer with the dance.

SHADOW: (soft laugh) Saturday it is then.

HERSHEY smiles and reaches her hand out towards SHADOW. He notices and smiles back and holds her hand.

HERSHEY: Ready to get some lunch?

SHADOW: Always.

They begin to leave the auditorium together.

FADE

HERSHEY and SHADOW are walking around town together, holding hands. SHADOW looks down at her, HERSHEY not noticing, he smiles. He realizes they've been holding hands since they left the auditorium. They never made anything official during their date, they just talked everything out and they now know their feelings for each other. He wants to ask her if anything is official yet, but he's on and off about asking to not annoy her. They've been really close lately, going everywhere together and hanging out late. That's it. 

SHADOW and HERSHEY stop in front of a little PHO place in town, not too far from the auditorium.

SHADOW: Does that sound good?

HERSHEY: Yes, as long as it's good with you. 

SHADOW: I love Pho. I'm totally good with this.

TRANSITION

HERSHEY and SHADOW are sitting at a booth together eating their food. SHADOW has been debating on asking HERSHEY about their relationship status this whole time. He's just going to go for it.

SHADOW: May I ask you something?

HERSHEY: Yeah, go ahead.

SHADOW: It's about our date... We had a great time, and we've been having a lot of fun together, but I just wanted to ask...

SHADOW is interrupted by HERSHEY's phone ringing. She quickly pulls out her phone and sees that it's the student she's supposed to be doing the video with. 

HERSHEY: I'm so sorry, I can call him back after.

SHADOW: No, no, go ahead. No worries.

HERSHEY answers her phone. The student begins talking over the phone.

HERSHEY: (responding to the student) Wait... I... Oh, ok. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah... I-I understand, I'll figure it out. Thank you. 

HERSHEY hangs up the phone with the student. She puts her phone away and sighs.

SHADOW: What's wrong?

HERSHEY: Oh, well, I guess he's going to be gone for awhile. And by awhile I mean he quit the dance class.
