Breakthrough: Season One

Episode 4: I Hear a Melody

This episode takes place the day of the auditions at the auditorium. HERSHEY, SHADOW, JOK and VIOLET are all sitting in the front row seats, waiting for people to come in. SHADOW and HERSHEY are cuddling each other, chatting it up, happy in their new relationship. VIOLET and JOK notice them and smile, then take a look at the time on VIOLET's phone. They look around and don't notice anyone. JOK shrugs at VIOLET and she sighs.

VIOLET: How is it that none is showing up?

HERSHEY: Just give it some time, Violet, I'm sure some people will show up, no worries.

VIOLET: You're right. People are gonna show up, they have to.

As VIOLET finishes saying that, someone walks through the doors. They all turn and look to see how many people are coming in. They only see one person, a woman. It's MELODY, the one who did all the outfits for their "Telephone" video. HERSHEY and JOK smile, and get up to go greet her. SHADOW and VIOLET look at each other confused and then just shrug. MELODY hugs HERSHEY and JOK.

HERSHEY: Melody! It's so good to see you! How are you?

MELODY: I'm good, sweetheart, really good. You?

HERSHEY: Great.

MELODY: (to JOK) How about you, dear?

JOK: I'm good! You?

MELODY and HERSHEY pause. 

MELODY: Good?

HERSHEY: So, what brings you here? 

MELODY: I saw your invitation video for auditions at this auditorium.

HERSHEY: Oh... you're auditioning?

MELODY: Yes, I am.

HERSHEY: That's amazing! Well, show us what you got!

MELODY: Oh, no, not here.

HERSHEY: Oh? Um... What do you mean?

MELODY: I was thinking of inviting you guys down to my Burlesque show this evening so you guys can watch me perform for my audition.

HERSHEY: We can do that. What time is the show?

MELODY: Eight.

HERSHEY looks at her friends. They all shrug and nod their heads.

HERSHEY: I guess we'll see you then.

MELODY: Perfect. See you all then. Mwah!

MELODY waves, blows a kiss and leaves the auditorium. They all look at each other and laugh a bit.

VIOLET: That's a way to do it I suppose.

FADE

Later at HERSHEY and VIOLET's apartment. They all walk in together, coming home from the auditions.

VIOLET: Ugh, I can't believe no one else showed up.

HERSHEY: It's alright, we can always hold another date, Vi.

VIOLET: I guess. But if no one came to this one, why would anyone come to the next?

HERSHEY: It doesn't hurt to try. Maybe if they see our new band member, they'll be encouraged to join. 

VIOLET: So did we just hire Melody on the spot?

HERSHEY: No, but I'm sure she's perfect for us.

JOK: She is, I've gone to a few of her shows. No doubt you guys won't love her.

SHADOW, HERSHEY and VIOLET all raise their eyebrows at JOK. He looks at them.

JOK: What?

HERSHEY, VIOLET and SHADOW laugh. There's a knock at the door. They all stop laughing and look at each other and shrug. HERSHEY goes to open the door. She sees that it's her older brother, SIMBA. She gasps, hugging him immediately.
