[ii] Barriers

"Emily! This... is unbelievable! How did you manage this?!" Emily's mother adds with a joyful tone.

"With this result you can go anywhere Emily! Where do you want to go after this?" Emily's mother added more.

"Mom, I think I want to enter the Air Force..." Said Emily.

Right after Emily said that Emily's father looked at her with fury in his eyes.

"Emily isn't that a male job!? Why do you a female wants to join it!? No, you can't join it!" Emily's father said in a loud tone. Emily's Mother just watches on.

"But Dad..." Emily speaks up in a low tone.

'When I said no, It means NO!" He added. Hearing those words from her dad, Emily ran into her room locked herself up and spent the whole night crying in her room.

Later that night, Emily brave herself to ask her dad's permission to apply for the Australian Defense Force Academy. Emily asked her dad at the dinner table, but it had gone south out of her expectation.

The next day, Emily's Mother asked, "Emily, are you going to further your studies?"

Even though she did catch Emily off guard, Emily still had some plan on how to hide the fact that she had already applied for the Australian Defense Force Academy.

"Mom, I think I don't want to further my studies just yet; Can I do that?" Emily replied. Emily just hopes now that her Mom doesn't ask further.

"Honey, that is completely fine. I do understand. I just wanted to say that, for me, I think you are perfect to enter the military, you are perfect from mentally and physically. Just that, you have to accept that the military isn't really a woman's job." Emily's Mother added.

Hearing her mother saying that, Emily has never been more than ever motivated to join the military to reach her dream.

Skipped a few weeks after applying for the Academy, the acceptance letter into the Academy has reached their doorsteps. Unfortunately, Emily's Father had grabbed that latter faster than she could.
