Sometimes, you can hear the sound of leaves ruffling together, or the salty smell of the sea near. The sun shines brightly, it warms your skin, and you hear a distant sound of laughter.

Something pulls at your hands, a bright smile, twinkling grey eyes, and flowing honey-blond hair. You tumble forward, but something else grasps at your shoulder.

( "You ever wonder what'll we do when we grow up?" Something melancholic.

"Rockstars, duh," you laugh. The scene is pretty with waves crashing against the shore.

"Won't we? We could see the world, Lovely!" )

Then, you blink and the moment disintegrates into the wind just like that.

Something aches at your heart, but you tuck the feeling away.

You are moving on.

"Did you get your letter yet?" Enter Severus Snape, who questions you as soon as he enters your peripheral vision. "I got mine earlier today."

You blink, fingers stopping against your guitar strings even as you slide your eyes upwards towards his face. The squirrel next to you, Nibbles Nutmuncher, chatters in protest at your lack of strumming and hops on top of your head.

You just let him.

"Severus Snape," you greet with a raised eyebrow, "no greetings? How rude."

"Yes; hello, how are you, did your letter come?" He plops down roughly next to you against the tree you always frequent. You can see an envelope clutched tightly in his pale hands.

Did he run here as soon as he got his letter?

A smile creeps in on your lips.

"Salutations," you title your head slowly and Nibbles squeaks with fright from his space on your head, "I'm doing good, thank you. How is Mrs. Snape? I hope you told her I said thanks for the chocolates–"

"Lily." You can hear the scowl in his voice. "Mum is doing well. Stop avoiding the question."

"Rude," you blow a raspberry on his face. "I haven't gotten any letters yet, Severus. Who knows, maybe I won't get any at all."
