She was one the only two of the group that were born in Black Spot.

Her life was simple. Or as simple as it can be in Black Spot.

Her family were one of the few groups that were skilled mechanics and engineers.

You need gear, tune up, or repairs they were the ones to go to.

And their bodies made this simple. Every member was a half. Halfs are being who have replaced limb or up to their whole body with machinery. In simple terms, a cyborg. The only organic parts required to keep was the nervous system.

Her parents were the few halfs that kept their reproductive organs.

Disk was born more as an experiment than as an act of love. They each have lived past a century and replacement parts were being harder to find since the Yaoyorozus took over Black Spot's distribution of goods.

They didn't want their knowledge to be lost. They agreed to make a child. They could have built an artificial kid, but those acts were banned long beforehand. Even when Simon Corporation was in power. Such creations have been deemed as weapons of war and unlicensed creation were dealt with extreme prejudice.

Plus an organic brain is better at using knowledge to open new paths while a mechanical brain could only follow routines.

But it was well known knowledge that there exist two such being roaming around the Black Spot. With minds structured similarly to humans and with their own free wills.

The two did committed the act of creating life. Amazingly enough the girl was born with a non-combatant Fragment. Scan. Her eyes can break down the data of any thing she views. Dimensions, power out put, wounds, and vital signs to name a few. She was the second to possess such a Fragment. Ironically enough the Fragment was possessed by female half in the past.

Having an innate love for machinary, she learned almost everything her parents wanted to teacher by age 6. Scan also made information gathering and processing easier.

Her parents were waiting for her to reach a certain age before they convert her. To be safe her parents conceived of a second child. A back up of sorts.

Being the only organics, Disk and her sister was close but more by design than biological connection. Disk's parents made her take care of her sibling as she should now the needs the baby would need.

Funny as she was raised basically by machines yet they want the second to be raised by family.

Disk hypothesized that some of the organic sensibility must have reawaken with the second's birth.

She would have to wait till she 15 before her parents world even think about converting her. Annoying as that would be she understood it was so her mind could develop more yet retain some of it neuro plasticity so it can integrate with her enhancements.

Or that was the plan.

When the Yaoyorozu Conglomerate learned that she possessed the Scan Fragment proceeded to hunt her down.

It happened suddenly. Disk and her family were helping repair a half. That was until a set of Testemants were surrounded her home.

Her parents ordered her to take her sister and run.

Disk was fascinated by the machines. And ignored their order. Her presence was detected when her sister began to cry. Her parents screamed at her to run. With that momentary distraction was enough for the Testemants to grab and rip them apart. The Testemants set their sights on the girls.
