"Such a pretty house and such a pretty garden"

My eyes fluttered open.
It had to be around 1AM as I had fallen asleep at 6PM and usually slept for about 7 hours.

My eyes drifted over to the singular window in my room, cold breeze coming through it as the wind howled in the distance.

I suddenly had the idea to take a stroll, so I did just that.

I ran over to the window and pushed it up, creating just enough space for my small body to sneak through.

I crawled up to the window and jumped out of it, groaning in pain as I realised I had landed on my sore arm.

Shaking off the pain, I began my adventure.

I lived by a lake, I only knew because sometimes when I would go out to steal food I would pass by it. It was beautiful during the day, so  I could only imagine how it would look during the night, with the moonlight reflecting off of it.

So, I decided to make my way there.

After a dedicated 10 minute walk, or so I should say run, I arrived at the lake.

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
The moonlight highlighted every aspect of the nature. The lake's water was calm and clear, slowly moving as the cool breeze blew past.

There was a large willow tree that stared out onto the lake, it was decorated with lights, probably set up by locals in the past.

(here's how it looked, it's right in front of the lake)

I took a deep breath.

For the first time in a while, I felt at peace.
There were no thoughts of my father, or my mother or just anything for that matter.
Just, complete calmness.

Staring out at the lake, I thought to turn
to the tree, wanting to examine how it was
decorated.

As I glanced at the tree, a small boy sitting under it caught my attention.

Half of his hair was red, and the other side was white. I noticed that on his red side there was also a scar, I wonder how he got that, or if it's a birthmark?

He seemed to be around my age, although I couldn't see too much from my distance.

He was resting his back on the tree, he looked quite comfortable and he had his eyes closed.

Is he asleep?

It certainly was the time to be sleeping out here, the breeze was nice and the sounds of the lake were very calming.

After a long thought, I decided to walk up to him. I never met people around my age, so it would definitely be an opportunity to see what it was like.

I slowly approached him, when I was close enough, I reached my hand out and gave him a gentle tap on the shoulder.
