Chapter 12.
-Cole's P.O.V-
I still can't believe that Cassie passed her file to Jake instead of me yesterday. Her file is like her most precious thing ever, she would freak out if she doesn't see it on her table anywhere but her sight. Except when she's at home. She just dumps her file anywhere while she's home. While in school she's totally different.
I looked across the classroom, where Jake was sitting. A wave of jealousy came flooding to me.
This lucky bastard.
This wasn't how Cassie used to be..
Today was our third day of detention. Mr. Sid hadn't given us any chores for detention, so we just sat here in one of the classrooms while Mr. Sid played 'Angry Birds' on his iPhone. The sound of the birds flying and knocking the pigs off was unmistakable. I didn't know people still play these stuffs, it was a trend last time. Not anymore though. Then 'temple run' took over.
"Beep...Beep...Beep...." There goes my phone. Telling us that detention was over. Finally.
I just couldn't stand looking at Jake any longer. Looking at him is just making my life suffer even worst. He's stealing Cassie away from me, and I so do not like the idea of that.
"Earth to Cole!" Jake waved his hand in front of my face. It took me a few seconds to remember what was happening.
It's the end of detention, for today, of course. And Mr. Sid, as usual, had already gone off, leaving us to switch the lights and fans off. Such a lazy ass discipline teacher.
"I'm here." I forced a smile. Suddenly remembering that Cassie was waiting in the library for me. "I..um... I better get going." Still not moving from my comfortable position on my chair. "Yeah, don't keep my girlfriend waiting." He said and walked past me. The way he said 'my girlfriend' sounds horrid. That uneasy feeling suddenly building inside me. I shuffled in my seat feeling uncomfortable and finally gave up sitting, I stood up and left the class, to the library!
~*~
"Hey Cassie." I said as I walked past her, as usual, the librarian left and passed the key to Case. "Hullooooooo." She said in a sing-song tone. "Someone's in a good mood?" I asked.
"Nah. I have a feeling... A good feeling that something's going to happen."
"Let's just hope it's something you are expecting." I suddenly remembered tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I don't even need to care, it's not like I have a valentine this year or something.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean nothing."
We fell silent after that, it was kinda awkward. It was unusual as we never feel awkward, apart from when people say we make a good couple.
~*~
I decided not to tell Cassie it was Valentine's Day tomorrow. I doubt she remembers. After all, if I did tell her, she might think I'm trying to get her as my valentine. Which is 99.9% a NO.
"We're here." I looked to my right, Cassie had fallen asleep, her seat belt strapped around her body, her head hung to her right, leaning against the car door. A smile on her face, probably having a good dream.
I stared at her for a good two minutes, until her eyes slowly open like a new born kitty. "Huh? What? W-where am I?"
"You've been sleeping for two minutes since we reached. Would you please leave now, you stink." I joked. "Well hello? Who was the one who fought with Jake to fetch me home?"
"Okay okay. Well, we made a deal in the end. And we didn't exactly 'fight'. We just made a deal."
"Oh sure. You were gonna poke his eyes out when you wanted to fetch me for three days, instead of two. Jake was forced to take the 'two days offer'."
"Don't you want me to fetch you home?"
"No."
Ouch, that was harsh.
"I was just joking." She punched lightly on my arm when she realized I was hurt, in the inside. "I should get going?" Like she was asking me for her permission to leave.
"Yeah sure." I leaned in, our faces only inches away.
I kissed her forehead softly. Maybe a Valentine's kiss that would never happen?
"Bye." She quickly said and opened the car door, slamming it hard when she got out. She didn't bother waving at me. Instead, she just hastily closed her front door behind her, like she was rushing in.
I sighed at her actions. She's probably freaking out.
Tomorrow is Thursday....
Me: Exchange.
He replied almost immediately.
Jake: Exchange what?
I could simply tell he was confused, frowning at he looked at my first text.
Me: Let's switch places.
This time, I'm guessing he was trying to figure out what I'm saying.
Jake: NO WAY!
...was the reply I got from him.
Me: Do you have any idea what I'm even saying?!
Jake: Well........ You can't take Cassie away from me.
I laughed at his reply, this was so not my intentions, though I really wished it would happen.
Me: No. She's mine.
I decided to tag along, resisting myself from putting the ":P" behind that message.
Jake: Back off my girl.
Took him 2 seconds to write that.
Me: She loves me more. ;)
Jake: NO SHE DOESN'T.
Touched a nerve?
Me: How do you know? ;) She has spent more time with me, than you.
I kinda regretted that.
Jake: She loves you in the friend way.
Me: Oh...
He didn't reply after that. I mean, who can ever respond to an 'Oh...' ?!
But I just can't help it but feel......something that is indescribable.
She loves you in the friend way.
That seven words had already taken over my world, swarming me into the sea of wonders.
I shook away the thoughts running through my head.
Me: I want to be the one who gets to fetch her back on Tuesday and Thursday.
