Hoverstar, Whitefur and Tawnyshade trotted towards Smokestorm and the kit.
"What happened?" Hoverstar asked.
He took a look at the small kit and sniffed it.
"WindClan." He said.
"I think they might have abandoned it." Smokestorm stated.
"Why would they abandon a potential warrior? That doesn't make sense. And in our territory of all." He said.
Smokestorm didn't really like how he thought of this kit as a potential warrior to them and not someone's kit.
"Maybe their food is scarce now, maybe they needed to get rid of some mouths to feed?" Whitefur said.
"No. No mother would just allow her kit to be taken away." Tawnyshade said. She should know, she was Spiderclaw, Hollowfang and Darkpaw's mother."It doesn't really matter right now. We should take it back to ThunderClan and decide what to do with it after it's warm and been fed." Tawnyshade added.
Smokestorm nodded in agreement.
"But we can't take an enemy cat into our territory and feed it valuable prey at the beginning of leaf-bare." Hoverstar stated.
This made Smokestorm angry.
"It's a kit! We just need to feed it and decide what to do with it when we get back!" She assumed Hoverstar was still worried about taking other clans' kits, after all she was the result of that happening and he almost lost his leadership because of her.
But this also made her very defensive about this kit. Because she was this kit, a little over thirteen moons she was this kit. Away from her proper clan and feeling alone."Alright, let's take it back. But I want to stay back and see if there are any WindClan cats waiting to ambush us. Tawnyshade, go hunting close to here so you can hear me if there is an ambush and I need help. Whitefur and Smokestorm, take the kit to the nursery and watch it until I get back." Hoverstar commanded.
Smokestorm picked up the little kit by the scruff and carried it back to camp with Whitefur and her side.
"You know, I think it's a little weird that you got an apprentice before me." Whitefur joked.
"Yeah, me too." Her voice was muffled. She thought for sure that Hoverstar wouldn't have given her an apprentice, she thought he still didn't trust her. But maybe this was his way of showing the clan that he wasn't prejudice. Even if he didn't trust her, the clan was starting too and he would look bad if he didn't give her something in front of the clan to show that he didn't hate her. It helped his reputation.Smokestorm and Whitefur arrived back at camp to he greeted by Sparrowpaw.
"What's going on?" He asked her, but Whitefur answered.
"We found a WindClan kit in our territory. We're going to wait for Hoverstar to return and then he'll decide what to do with it." He said.
The two walked into the nursery, where only Ravenshine was. Apparently Ravenshine had become a queen just a half-moon before the kits became apprentices. Smokestorm set the kit down, curling her tail around it. After a closer look at it, she could see that it was a Tom and he had a small scratch on his side.
"He kind of looks like a wasp." Whitefur remarked, pointing at the kit's pelt.
"Waspkit. We should call him Waspkit."Smokestorm heard a cry for help in the distance, and it sounded like Hoverstar.
