The FBI was more than happy to take the box of letters off Mercy's hands. They took the information and hunted for the victims alluded to in the letters. They also started searching for her father's letters to Bundy. New evidence against two of America's most notorious serial killers was major news, and within forty-eight hours, the news was being broadcast on all the major news networks. It was also apparently a serious and popular topic of conversation on the internet. AOL had multiple chatrooms dedicated to the subject. Mercy was fucking mortified. She didn't want to leave the house for fear of running into a reporter. They were trying like hell to find her, and she wasn't about to make it easy for them. Luckily, Happy's name was the one on the deed to the house and all the utilities, so they couldn't track her down that way. Most still assumed that she was somewhere in Washington state. She was lured into a false sense of security. That lasted until a sunny spring day when Happy came home early from his shop...and Gemma and Jax were with him. Gemma had become the (semi) sane mother figure that Mercy had always needed. As for Jax, being roughly her age, he had become one of her best friends. If Happy was bringing them home as backup, something was seriously wrong.

"What is it?" She met them at the front door.

"Sweetie, you look about to drop." Gemma took her elbow and led her to sit on the couch and then sat beside her. Mercy couldn't blame her for being concerned. She was only sleeping a few hours a night, if that, because of nightmares. She'd had a sour stomach since she had found the letters, so she hadn't eaten much. She looked like a ghoul, and she knew it.

Jax perched on the arm of the couch while Happy sat in front of her on the coffee table.

"Please, just tell me," she pleaded tiredly.

Happy reached out and took her hands, running his thumb over his promise ring on her finger. His face gave nothing away, as usual. "I heard an announcement on the radio earlier. Your mom gave an interview to Fox News. It's gonna air this Saturday at eight."
