Chapter 3
Hayden's POV:
As we were walking out to my car I couldn't help but think of today. I was one terrible mate. So far, her parents had beaten the crap out of her and one of my students decked her twice because she had a crush on me. I just can't win can I?
"Mr. Daniels..." I looked at her. "I mean, Hayden?"
"Yes?"
"Which car is yours?"
"Oh, the camaro."
"How does a teacher afford a camaro convertible."
"I haven't always been a teacher." I joked. She raised an eyebrow.
"Okay then?"
"What? One hundred and nine years is a decent time to build wealth. Especially for one person." I nodded.
"Why do you look just twenty-four though?"
"Kaily, Werewolf. I choose when and how I age. It's magical stuff." I joked, and opened the door for her. She cringed as she got into my car, attempting to be gentle. She was breathing hard as she sat down, I grimaced. "I'm taking you to a hospital." I said with finality. My voice left no room for argument.
"Hayden, I'm fine."
"Kaily, you are clearly not okay. You look like you got hit by a bus and wince every two minutes. The least they could do at the hospital is get you some meds or something."
"Can you even bring me to the hospital?"
"Who did your parents set in charge of you?"
"No one? Their suppose to set people in charge of me?"
"Are you saying they just up and left you?"
"That happens a lot."
"That's it."
"What?" She looked at me with a slightly scared expression.
"You're staying with me while they're gone. We can have you see my pack doctor. Granted he's not use to humans but hey, how different can they be from werewolves?"
"That's comforting."
"Would I let anything bad happen to you?" I asked her honestly.
"Doubtful."
"Exactly." She giggled and soon after winced in pain. Damn it, why'd I have to make her laugh! This made me drive just that much faster. I needed to get her to Leo, my pack doctor, before I made it worse. I clutched the steering wheel till my knuckles were white and threw all my focus into my driving.
"Hayden, you can slow down..." I heard Kaily squeak in the passenger seat. I ignored her though. My wolf was trying to take control. That was when I felt a soft hand on my arm. I gently released and calmed at her touch. My wolf almost started purring.
"Sorry..."
"Don't worry about it." She said as she breathed in a sigh of relief. "What was that?"
"When something big happens emotionally, my wolf tries to come out and handle it. It's really just to protect me and now my mate." She looked at me like I was losing it. "Yeah, crazy, trust me I know."
