She never said "We need to talk". Something had happened.
"Why the f*ck have you been self-harming."
"Mum i-" Kath burst into tears. Her mum ignored.
"Look. I'm not mad, you're my daughter. But why?"
"how can you call me your daughter when you never speak to me? All you do is feed me? You've been so selfish since dad left." Kath almost shouted these words.
"do you even image how i feel? i've never felt more alone. He was the love of my life" Her mum responded, stubbornly.
"I'm here? I understand it's hard but i'm here. I'm your child, you can hug me? you can talk to me?"

"I've realised that" She responded. "I'm sorry the way i reacted, i just wasn't expecting you. out of all people?"
"you barely care about me? Do you even know i've been bullied"
"YES! OK. I JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO RESPOND." She stopped, seeing kath's eyes fill up with water. "Sorry" she said, in a more gentle tone "I just- you were so talkative when you were younger"
"i'm sorry that i'm different to what you expected"
surprisingly Kath was pulled into a hug. She didn't hesitate to hug back, salty tears falling down her face. She was hugging her mum, for the first time in years. She didn't want to let go, the warmth filled her body.

They pulled away. Kath felt regret.
"I'm looking into counselling" Her mother mentioned.
Kath ran out the room.

(TW! This section goes into detail about self-harm, if it will trigger you. Please skip, and stay safe- R x, i will write a little note on where it stops)
Release. I need Release
She opened the box, picked up and inspected the Blade, it was covered in blood, she wiped it clean looking at the new shine it had.
She brought the blade up to her wrist, and dragged it across. It was smooth. She watched it turn red, blood was forming. She did it again. again. The tension in her body was released and she sat, breathing heavily.

It should be ok now- R x
She pulled out antiseptic wipes, dabbed the scars. She liked the stinging, then carefully wrapped a clean bandage around her wrist. It felt good.
_________

Miss,
When i got home my mum had found out. She kinda yelled at me, but hugged me? I've come to realise that Dad leaving has affected her a lot. She didn't mean to ignore me. I guess it just happened? She's looking into counselling.
Kath

She wanted to tell her about her relapse, but instead left it. Waiting for miss to reply, but it never happened. She shut her laptop and went to sleep.
________
Two days later.
6:45am. Alarm. Her arm stung. Kath ignored it. Expecting to see her mum at breakfast, but no one was home.
8:30. Kath left the house. She didn't care if she was late. Only form right. She had music first. But realised that she hasn't seen miss, nor emailed her.
She reached school just as first lesson started. The 9:00 bell.
"Late again?" Said the office lady.
Kath didn't care.

She made it down to music, but it was a supply.
