Chapter 1
An Interesting Individual
Citadel, known for being one of the best cities around. All the people enjoy living there, and the place is filled with beautiful sights of green grasses of emeralds, tall trees that touched the skies, sparkling blue waters that swayed in an elegant dance, and beautiful plants that varied in many shades of colors.
The doors to the Lonesome Café swung open as two individuals walked out the door and onto the streets.
One was named Ringi, a 15 year old male who wore gray clothes, a metallic-looking hat with spikes coming out of it, and carried his cat around in his head. Despite the hat looking metallic, it was actually very soft and squishy.
Along side him walked his best friend Bambom, a six year old with a picnic bench colored scarf, blue clothes, and a red hat. He had blue eyes and a very innocent smile.
"That was a lot of fun! The people there were nice as well!" Bambom said with a smile, skipping to keep up with Ringi.
"Definitely. The service there is amazing, we should definitely go there again." Ringi said as he carried the cat food he got for his cat, knowing Bambom would be completely unable to carry it.
"God I gotta get to school tomorrow...can't believe the weekend went by so fast." Ringi said, not wanting to go back.
"It's ok Ringi! School's fun anyways, I don't see why you seem so unexcited." Bambom said, the smile on his face turning to a full-on grin.
"For you at least..." Ringi muttered under his breath.
The two walked by an alleyway, but as they walked by the place, Bambom heard a sound.
It sounded like breathing.
"R-Ringi!" Bambom said, disturbed by the sound.
"What's up Bam?" Ringi said, quickly turning around from the fear in Bambom's voice.
"I-I think I heard something...down there." Bambom stuttered, pointing to the alleyway with a shaky hand.
"I'll go check it out then." Ringi said, walking down the dark alleyway to see what was disturbing Bambom.
Bambom followed behind, still afraid of what could be lurking in the darknesses.
"Hello? Anybody there?" Ringi called out as he walked down the alleyway, looking around the area.
Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him.
And it didn't sound like Bambom.
"Hello there..." the voice said. The voice was deep and slightly raspy, and the source of the voice seemed to speak at a somewhat slow pace.
Bambom ran behind Ringi as he turned around and stared at the figure.
When he turned around, he saw a person wearing dark blue clothes and a faded red hat. He had large, swollen eyes with vertical slit pupils and heavy eye bags. He wore a wide, toothy grin on his face and his skin was very pale, like he had never been in the sun in years.
Ringi recognized immediately who the figure was.
It was Dale.
He was 14, and was a year below Ringi. He was known throughout the entire school for "being the weird kid."
He would tend to stick to himself and when anybody would converse with him he'd talk about strange topics, such as how to gut a pig or how many cows are slaughtered every year. People would tend to ignore him because of this, and whenever there was a new student in the school, Dale would always be the first one people would talk about, telling the student not to talk to him.
"What are you doing out here...?" Ringi asked him, confused on why he'd be here of all places.
"Nothing really...I was just relaxing when I noticed you two walking down here." Dale told him, the expression on his face not changing in the slightest as he spoke.
"A-are you the one that I heard breathing out here...?" Bambom asked, a little freaked out still but starting to calm down.
"Most likely." Dale stated plainly. "I'm guessing that's why you two are out here I suppose?"
"Mhm. Bambom got freaked out by the sound, so I went in with him to go check it out." Ringi responded to Dale's question.
"I see..." Dale said.
"I may as well introduce myself. My name is Ri-" Ringi was about to say before Dale cut him off.
"I already know who you are. Everybody talks about you. I could easily make a list about how many things I've heard about you." Dale said flatly, catching Ringi by surprise.
"Well then that makes two of us, Dale." Ringi teased.
The two chatted for a while, as time seemed to fly by. The two genuinely seemed to be enjoying their conversation.
"Ringi...we should get home now." Bambom eventually said, yawning from how tired he was.
"Well, it was nice talking to ya Dale. See you tomorrow at lunch!" Ringi said as he walked off.
Dale stood there for a while. He found it weird how friendly Ringi was being towards him, with how much shit people like to talk about him.
Eventually, he just walked back home, not paying attention to all of the eyes that stared at him. He already knew people found him weird, and that's how it always would be.
"What an interesting individual..." Ringi said as he opened the door and walked inside, with Bambom following behind.
