Tyra's P.O.V.
Texas 2007 (10 and 9 years old)
It's been a year since I met my best friend, Leo Valdez. We're closer than ever. And I kind of, might have a little tiny crush on him.
We've moved from place to place throughout the year. We were currently in an old abandoned house. It was pretty creepy. There were spiders everywhere, which I hated. But it was decent enough to live in.
I had gone out on a run to get food with some cash I picked up. I opened up the front door and closed it behind me.
"Honey, I'm home!" I joked.
Leo came around the corner, fiddling with some metal scraps. Something that became a habit of his over time.
"Yes, dear. How was work?" He said, in a fake girls voice. I laughed.
"Okay, never do that again." I said. He laughed too.
"Yeah, I agree." He said. "What'd you get for dinner?"
"Well, I got some meat, peppers, taco shells, some chips and salsa." I said. His eyes lit up.
"Taco night?" He guessed.
"Yup," I said. "And you're gonna make them."
I handed him the bag if stuff.
"Why do I have to make them?" He whined.
"Because, I made dinner yesterday, it's your turn." I said. He pouted. How cute.
"Fine." He said and marched away to get a fire going for the food.
About a half an hour later, he called me.
"Princess Snow! Chef Leo has prepared your meal!"
I laughed at what he called himself as I walked into the room. I was pretty shocked to find a delicious looking meal waiting for me.
"Oh my god, Leo. This looks amazing!" I said, sitting down next to him.
"I know, right." He said.
"Let's hope it tastes as amazing as it looks." I said.
"Oh, trust me. It does." He said.
I picked up a Taco from my plate and took a bite. I closed my eyes and moaned in delight.
"Good, huh?" He said, with a smirk.
"So good." I said. "You're definitely making dinner from now on."
"I knew you would say that." He grinned.
"How did you--" BAM!
Me and Leo froze and looked at each other.
I lifted a finger to my mouth and made a 'be quiet' gesture. He nodded.
I grabbed my pocket knife from my pocket and held it up. I walked quietly over to the main room and peeked ny head out. I looked around, but I saw nothing.
"Ahh! Who the heck are you?" Leo yelled from the other room. "Let me go!"
Oh no. Leo.
"Sorry, kid. But you can't be here on your own. We have to take you back to the Foster homes. We've been looking for you for a while." A man said.
I ran into the room and saw two men holding Leo. I was about to go in there and do something, but he saw me and shook his head.
"No..." I whispered. "I have to save you. I can't leave you."
He mouthed "I'm sorry, Snow." Before the two guys took him and left.
I ran after them but it was too late. When I had gotten outside they were already in the car and driving down the street.
