MELANIE
It was a hot, sunny day in Houston as Pookie and I walked along the shopping outlet. I wanted to buy something new before I leave for the trip later on.
"Why are you buying a new outfit, Mel? You have a whole walk in closet full of things you never wore!", She said leaning against the clothes rack, watching me as I looked through the clothes.
I looked at her. "You know what, Pookie. I don't even know. How about we go shop for somethig else".
Pookie was my best friend. At one point in our lives, we couldn't stand eachother. She's about 5'6 with long brown curly air, greenish blue eyes, light skin, and a curvy body. She was perfect. I'm not gay, so it's not even like that. I've been knowing pookie since 3rd grade and she has never changed. Still the hyper, funny, and weird person that I know.

TREY
There's just something about this little boy, that I can't quite put my finger on. He's so little and innocent , he has no idea what's even going on. My thoughts were interrupted by Melanie and Pookie walking in the door. As soon as Pookie saw Jayden, she ran to him and picked him up, spinning Jayden around, devouring him in kisses.
"Hey my lil' man!", She said hugging him tightly as he laughed.
Melanie gave a slight smile and sat down next to me.
"Bae, what's wrong?", I simply asked.
She gave me a weak smile. "Nothing, but we should be leaving soon, so let me go finish packing".
I watched her as she got up and went upstairs.
"Just give her some time. I'm sure she'll be fine later on", Pookie said placing Jayden on the sofa.
I sighed. "No, Pookie. I gave her enough time. She's been moody all morning".
She laughes. "What do you expect? She has a 4 year old son and a baby daddy that's always trying to start fights with her....or you".
"Honestly, I don't think he does it on purpose. He's just looking out for his son."
"Oh, so now you're on his side?"
"Stop twisting my words around. I didn't say that."
"That's what it sounds like to me. "
"Well, you must be deaf because I didn't say shit about being on his side. I don't even like the dude!".
She rolls her eyes and laughs. "Okay, Trey, okay. I'll see you guys around, Tell Melanie I love her".
Pookie turns to Jayden and kisses his forehead. "Bye my love bug".
"I could of sworn that Jayden was Melanie's, not yours", I joked.
"Oh hush", She said walking out of the door and closing it behind her.

KIRK
I looked at my blinged out watch as I waited outside in my car in front of Melanie's house. I see her coming out with luggage , smiling with Trey as he held Jayden. I got out of the car calmly and closed the door. Mel spotted me and whispered something in Trey's ear. He nodded his head and put Jayden in the car. She walked up to me.
"What are you doing here?", She asked with her arms folded.
I leaned against the car.
"You think you slick, huh?"
"What the fuck are you talking about Kirk".
"You're not taking my son anywhere. You can forget that shit right na", I said going to Mel's parked range rover.
She grabbed my arm.
"Would you just go away and stop trying to ruin everything for me".
I rolled my eyes and opened the back door to get Jayden. I unbuckled his carseat and took him out.
"PUT HIM BACK IN THE FUCKIN' CAR! ", She yelled at me.
I continued to walk to my car and put him in the back.
"Bye", I said as I drove off.

I can't believe he just took my son like that. Trey came over to me.
"You sure you wanna still go? I mean we can-
I sigh. "No, Trey. I still want to go see my family. I--I'll just have to go without Jayden".
"You sure you-
"YES. Now, can we just leave?
I walked off and hopped in the passenger' seat,
