**The Edge was another song released off of Vince's 1993 solo album.
**The scenes in this chapters may seem random. They are not real-life Crue timeline events. Although once does correlate to a real-life event, they're all made-up by me. But, they have a purpose, partially to propel the story forward, and partially as a set-up for future chapters. If you read the original Endurance, you may recognize the early introduction of a character who shows up way later.
**There are some racial remarks in this chapter. They're meant to just show a general (and sadly realistic) attitude from one group of people to another. An attitude that unfortunately still persists today. I refrained from writing a certain common racial slur, but I did add a "bleep" in place of it. I hope that no one feels offended. It's not my intention. It's just a scene depicting some racial tension in a fanfiction story. But if it does bother you, you can let me know in the comments or by message, and I will do better going forward.

October 1983 -
The band's Shout At The Devil album was finally released in September. The album proved popular among America's youth, who begged their parents to drive them to the mall or their local record store to snatch up a copy of the album with the matte black cover adorned with a glossy black pentagram on the front.
It even reached as far as the east coast where, as legend had it, a little girl snuck the album out of their big brother's bedroom to stare at the inner sleeve, which revealed badass professional photographs of each member in their custom made stagewear. She wondered what the hell she was even looking at. Pretty men? Ugly women? Nonetheless, she was charmed enough to be sucked into a lifelong love of the band, where many, many years later she even devoted herself to writing fanfiction about them. [eh em... wink, wink.]
A N Y W A Y..... Motley Crue was just finishing up their first album signing at a record store in Burbank in a strip mall.
The parking in front of the store was roped off and staffed with security to keep the lingering throng of fans at bay, while the band's promoter and a few roadies worked to break the scene down. The band stayed around shaking some hands and signing a few more keepsakes as teens and young adults reached across the barriers with their items in hand, waving them to get noticed.
Mick already checked out and decided to sit in the air-conditioned break room in the record store. Vince looked to be as happy as he had ever been, signing records and notepads while kissing cheeks and hands. Both Tommy and Nikki did the same until Tommy decided that he needed to step away from the crowd for a nicotine break. Nikki followed him, promising the teens that he'd come right back.
Tommy lit up and blew out the smoke from that initial long-awaited hit, as Nikki leaned up on the backside of the conversion van that toted them there.
"You know that I have too many fucking loops in my name," Tommy said, as he wrote his name invisibly in the air with a finger. "I gotta figure out how to straighten some of that shit out."
"Don't straighten out," Nikki chuckled.
Tommy noted the play on words with a pop of his brows and a smirk.
"Jokes aside, straight is no good either, man. Look at my name... that's a lot of strokes," Nikki remarked.
"I like strokes," Tommy said on the sly, with a crooked grin and another eyebrow pop.
Nikki smiled. "Whatcha doing later?"
"Nothing planned," Tommy shrugged.
"Lita has a show. Wanna stop by... or will Candice say no?"
