"Daaaaaad" Y/N whined, slumping down on the bed with a frustrated groan. Rocket and Gamora shared knowing looks as they sighed.
"I said no Y/N Meredith Quill." He glares, tossing his Walkman to the side and slamming the door shut.
She sniffled, her face buried in the pillow, her head turning when she hears Gamora walk in. Rocket talking to Quill on the other side of the ship.
"He always does this. Me and Drax just went out to explore, what's the big deal?!" She sniffles, her head resting in Gamora's lap as she braided her hair.
"I know lovely, he's just worried about you" She whispers, but Y/N shakes her head.
"I'm old enough to go out and explore Gamora ! and I wasn't alone, Drax was there with me !" she sighs falling back on the bed.
Gamora sighs and lies down beside her, looking at her. "Y'know he lost his dad and mom too" she says quietly, Y/N's eyes widening.
Peter had told her about Yondu, but not about her grandma. Y/N was just a baby when he died, but she'd cried when Peter broke down in her hug.
"M-My grandma?" she asks timidly and Gamora nods.
"That's why he's always so scared to loose you too Y/N. He doesn't want to be mad at you but he's just worried something out there will hurt you if he's not there to protect you. He's lost enough and he won't be able to forgive himself if something hurts you too" she says.
"Can I go talk to him? Is he still mad?" She asks but looks at the door, Peter already there. Gamora smiles softly and walks out the door, closing it behind her to let the both of them talk.
"I'm so sorry dad" she mumbles as Peter lifts her up in a big hug, kissing the top of her head.
"s'alright Nova, I'm sorry too. I'm just scared to loose you" he says, handing her one end of the earplugs. She smiles pushing it in as both of them nod to the music.
"You can go out, but not too far off alright?" he says and she smiles brightly nodding eagerly.
"I love you dad"
"I love you too Nova"
