(Never seen an idea like this before+a tiny bit of stobotnik, since y/n is a sort of mombotnik I'll use they/her pronouns (still mainly they/them tho). TW! Thoughts of Suicide! And also SPOILERS FOR SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT GO AND WATCH IT THEN COME BACK :D thx)

Y/n's P.O.V

It had been at least 5 months since he'd disappeared, he probably didn't know who you were. But you still missed him dearly; you hope any decent parent would. You got the news from a fellow ex government worker, however, they didn't go into huge detail. You still remember when you first heard it, you felt like breaking down. Nothing was worth living for anymore, what was the point? The only thing that kept you sane was helping the Wachowski's take care of Sonic.

Speaking of, you knocked on their door. Maddie greeted you with a tired smile "Y/n, thank you for coming Sonic will NOT go and take a shower" You raised your eyebrow "Well, good thing you called" You smiled and walked in; you saw Tom wrestling Sonic "NO! I DON'T WANNA" You put your very stern sounding voice to use "Sonic." With that, the hedgehog stopped "oh, hey oldie!" He suddenly waved, you didn't mind the nickname he gave you, it was quite amusing actually "Now, you know better than to man handle this poor boy" You turned to Tom, he playfully scoffed as you took Sonic by the hand "C'mon Y/n, he wouldn't-" You whipped a look to him "Y-yes, sorry of course" Sonic laughed as he got in the bathroom. You motioned for Tom to go in there, to which he obliged.

Maddie gave a light chuckle as she joined you on the couch "Wow, I don't know how you work your magic y/n" You smile "Well, I had a son" You looked forward "Had?" The environment turned different "Well, he disappeared a few months back" Maddie put a hand on your shoulder "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry y/n" You put your hand on hers "No, don't worry about it dear. It's not like I was the best parent ever myself" You were right, you thought it would be better if he didn't know of your existence. Maddie had a quizzical look on her face "I-uh had to cease all contact from him, he was a target for my enemies" The Wachowski's already knew of your government roots "Well, I'd say you made the right call, it was extremely selfless of you to keep him safe" Her words comforted you "Thank you, my dear" You got up "Well, it's time I take my leave" Maddie went to say bye. 

You started to get flashbacks of when you resigned from your job 

"General. I came here to give you my resignation" 

Well, you were in Green hills so might as well get some coffee 

"Robotnik, what is the meaning of this?" 

Huh, a new shop?

"General, I need to look after my son-"

You stayed in your car until the memories stopped

"Get out Robotnik. You were one of our best right after that traitor of your husband"

His words stung you till this day; the memories of Gerald. Even if it was nearly two decades ago.
