!!WARING THIS CHAPTER DEALS WITH DEATH!!
Jackie woke up that Sunday morning to his apartment being darker than normal. He looked out the window to find very angry looking clouds, dark and thick. He checked his weather app and found that the next couple days were calling for some heavy rain and possible thunderstorms throughout. He slowly sat up in bed and looked at the time; ten forty-two. Jackie scrambled out of bed and checked to see if he had any missed calls. He did. About seven. "Damn it!" He yelled as he rushed to throw on some pants and shoes and raced out the door.
He arrived at work, pushing three hours late. He rushed past the hostess stand, the bar and straight for the employee-only hallway. He raced past a bewildered Eric and Derek, trekking straight for Michael's office. He slammed the door open causing the unsuspecting Michael to throw the papers in his hands up into the air. "Jackie?"
Jackie bowed his head parallel with the floor then looked up at the very confused Michael. "I am so sorry for being late!" Jackie yelled. "I slept through my alarm! I missed all seven of your phone calls!"
Eric, Derek, and a few other staff members were now piling around the door to see what the commotion was all about. Michael motioned for them to leave and asked Derek to shut the door. "Jackie, please sit down." Jackie quickly sat down and sat up very straight. Michael shook his head at the very tense boy in front of him. "Jackie, you are okay. I already had an explanation from both Angie and your mother that you may be late. today. They had told me you were passed out drunk and they had to drive you and your car back to your apartment. Angie was lucky enough to be able to switch her shift with someone else prior to this morning. You are fine, so do not worry about a write up or anything." Jackie relaxed a little in his chair, and started to feel the headache from the hangover set in. "Go ahead and get ready for the remainder of your shift," Jackie got up to leave, "and drink some lemon and salt water. It should help." Jackie nodded and walked to the dressing room to get changed.
"Hey Miel, I got it from here." Jackie said and slipped behind the host booth with his glass of lemon water.
"Sure thing." Miel stepped out and stood in front of the booth. "So, did you ever message your new boo thing after he gave you his number."
Jackie rolled his eyes and shook his head. "David was just being courteous, by giving me his number as one of the department leads."
"Well, I am just asking."
"I heard he didn't give it to anyone else personally." came the familiar voice from the side of the men. Isa looked at Jackie and said, "Honestly Jackie. Though you are gay, you still just as dense as any other dude."
"... the hell is that supposed to mean?" but Isa fled before Jackie could even finish the question. Jackie sighed as Miel laughed. "Oh shut up. Get back on the floor." Jackie waived for him to leave. Miel smeared and walked away. "This is going to be a long day." Jackie thought to himself.
"Finally!" Jackie sighed as he sat next to Miel, who was playing a game on his phone. Miel nodded his head. "I heard that crazy lady yelling at you earlier."
"Oh yeah. She was mad at the fact I was drinking water with lemon while working."
"What did you say?"
"Oh nothing. I simply told her if she had a problem with me being healthy to take up with my boss and she stormed off.
Miel laughed. "I swear, people these days. They do not know how to show any respect for anyone other than themselves. I had this dude who thought I was younger and started to flip out on the fact I was serving alcohol to guests."
