"Friday was such a bore wouldn't you agree?" Angie said as she cleaned the glass in her hand.
Jackie shrugged. He sanitized and cleaned each of the server tablets, waiting for the message saying to come to the conference to meet the new boss. "What even happened yesterday that caused us to postpone the meeting?"
"I, honestly, have no idea. I think they are getting him accustomed to the hotel. I don't know, but what I do know is that Michael was super stressed. He's even supposed to work this Sunday. I heard he was very upset about that."
Jackie looked up from the tablet he was fixing. "Wow. Normally they allow him that day off, with him being a pastor and all."
"Yeah, apparently they fired the assistant manager."
"Really?" Jackie turned to see Miel standing behind him.
"Yeah apparently, she had been stealing from the hotel slowly over time. They had caught her yesterday on the cameras taking money out of the deposit bag."
"Shocking." Isa said as she slid into a chair at the bar. "That woman was a witch. I swear on my grandma's grave, that she ate children." Miel stifled a laugh, causing a snorting sound to come out. This caused everyone to start laughing.
"Well." Jackie paused as his wrist vibrated. "It's time."
As a group they walked towards the double doors and walked into the room. Some people were still coming into the room from the door on the other side of the room. Jackie looked around and found that each table was labeled something. Angie waved the group over to a table. They each sat down as Angie talked to Derek sitting at the table across from them. Jackie spotted Eric and he looked down, Miel grabbed his hand and reassured him that he was okay.
Michael stood at the front of the room as the new boss and the new assistant manager walked into the room. The room grew silent from the chatter as the man stood up to speak.
"Hello everyone. My name is David Andrew Maxwell. I would prefer if all of you would call me David, but feel free to call me whatever makes you comfortable."
Jackie was so in awe of the new boss, I mean David, that he did not catch the name of the lady who was currently talking. The man had semi-long hair, barely making it behind his ears. He had a short and well kept beard, that wasn't too full or too thin. He had big blueish eyes that seemed to sparkle in the light, which was complemented by the dark blonde eyebrows that were cleaned up nicely.
The man caught the stare of Jackie, causing Jackie to blush and turn his attention as quickly as he could to the lady. The lady finished speaking and the room clapped. Micheal stood and told everyone to respect them as if they had been here for the past few years. He also said that he was expecting us to do our best for this coming evening and Sunday morning, which said through his teeth. He dismissed everyone.
Jackie, who was still very much in dream land, was nudged by Angie who was standing up to shake the hand of someone standing in front of him. Jackie looked up and saw it was Daivd. Jackie fumbled to stand up and shook Daivd's hand.
"Hello, s-sir, my name is -ackie, I mean, Jackson."
David laughed and smiled kindly, which caused Jackie to melt. "Hello Jackson. It is a pleasure to meet you. I heard you are the new floor manager of the restaurant, is that correct?"
Jackie could only nod. David laughed again. His laugh was warm, sincere and welcoming, like that of the warm sun on the first day after a rainstorm. "I don't mean to laugh at you, Jackson.."
"Please, call me Jackie, sir."
"...Okay, Jackie. Well I wish I could keep talking to you, but unfortunately I have to go do boss stuff." He winked. Jackie blushed and looked away, as David smiled and walked away.
