I'd heard Eliza waking up screaming all night, I assumed it was nightmares. About 3-4am this morning it stopped though, maybe she fell asleep or maybe she just decided to stay awake. After catching her trying to leave this morning and seeing the bags under her eyes I'd assume it was the latter. She couldn't refuse to sleep forever to avoid them though it wasn't healthy for her.

I sat in my office staring at my computer screen with Diego sat on the opposite side of the desk flicking through his phone. He was my right hand man, my go-to, the man I trusted my entire empire with if I wasn't available. We'd grown up together and he probably knew more about me than I knew about myself.

"The Russo family are in town. They want to have a dinner at some point this week. You got a date?" I let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of my nose, the Russo family were a powerful family with an empire of their own. It was important to keep them as allies, they had a lot of man power and if the time ever came where we needed back-up they were the best people to have by our side.

"Well, let's see... Today is Sunday so... Thursday?" That should hopefully give me time to get together anything we may need for the dinner, as much as they may say it's a dinner it's really a business meeting.

"Cool, I'll make sure they know. Anyway, how's things going with that chick? She had anymore meltdowns?" A frown took over my face and I looked over my computer screen to glare at Diego while he was smirking.

"She's fine. No. No more meltdowns. But remember, she's not used to this world, so if she has a meltdown, it's because she's not as fucked up as we are." There was a stern tone to my voice which wiped the smirk off his face. I don't know why I felt so defensive about Eliza, but I felt to need to protect her.
"Please leave now." I looked back down at my screen, wanting some peace and quiet. He nodded his head and stood up from the black leather armchair he'd been sat in. Without another word he walked across my office and left, closing the door behind him.

I let out a deep sigh and lent back in my leather desk chair. I spun so my back was to the door and I was facing my bookshelf that covered the whole back wall. It was full of old books, mostly first editions. Reading was my escape, my way to get out of this life for a bit and live in a fantasy world filled with romance and sweet nothings. There was a light knock at the door which brought me out of my momentary peace. I groaned, and spun round to face my desk again.

"Come in!" I yelled as if I was fed up with life.

"Sorry, I don't mean to intrude." Eliza's soft voice immediately made my head shoot up to see her stood in the doorway like she was scared to fully come in the room. She clung to the dark wooden door like her life depended on it. She looked so gorgeous in a pair of gym shorts with a cropped sweater and her hair in a messy bun.

"Do you need something Eliza?" I raised an eyebrow at her with a smirk, loving how my stern demeanor made her so nervous and fidgety.

"I just wanted to let you know Sarah made some lunch for us both... in case you were hungry." I smiled and lent back in my chair thinking about how hungry I was but not for food. I could eat her delicious curves up all day.

"Tell her to bring me a plate in please. I'll eat while I'm working." She nodded her head to my demand and looked down at the floor as if she was waiting for approval to leave.
"Oh and bellissima, I have a dinner on Thursday. You will be joining me." I didn't bother to give her the option of whether she wanted to come or not, because she was coming. I trusted my guards watching her while I was gone, but I didn't trust her not to try to leave again.

"Why can't I just stay here?" She asked in a low fed up voice, scrunching her nose up slightly. The way she scrunched her nose was so adorable, she got little wrinkles across the bridge.

"Yes, and attempt another great escape? I don't think so. I'll have Sarah get you a dress. That's all, you can go now." With a slight huff she turned around and shut the door a little harder than she needed to as a way of expressing her frustration.
"ELIZA!"  I yelled to get her to come back in, as if she'd not even walked a step away from the door, it creaked open and she poked her head back in through the door.
"This house it very old, I'd appreciate it if you didn't slam." She rolled her big emerald eyes which only infuriated whilst turning me on that bit more. Slamming the door again, harder than before made me smirk a little. Feisty. I like it.
