Robin

My morning was actually normal for once, no interruptions, no intrusions. I woke at the usual 6am, washed, put on my uniform and began my usual practice routines. It was a Friday, we'd just received the news the other day about the Inscrutable Machine and their call for Patsies. Most of us were scrambling, Charlie and Kara were required to leave on a special operation, under truce. They're intention, to visit the state SuperMax prison. I performed my training alongside Starfire, who was attempting to train Lena.

"No, you do not understand. When fighting flying opponents, strength or force has nothing to do with it. It's speed, I can move faster, and hit harder as a result. Try to catch me again!" This was a simple game, albeit with live ammunition. Lena was using a weapons mount and machine gun to try and 'hit' Star, who could easily take that damage. Starfire flitted around the stage, alternating between casually standing at spots in the air, to bodily slamming the mech. I'd seen the measures of her punching the 'gong' as the tougher members were calling it. Starfire wasn't Supergirl strong, but she was durable. When she hit the mech, it was full force body slams that knocked the thing around like a sock puppet.

I was training to one side with a series of dummies set up, these were not usual training dummies, but more like cheep robots. I could slaughter a hundred of these with ease, moving between them like a dancer. What I really needed was to spend more time in the field, or training with my new Teacher.

The school we were inhabiting was almost repaired, and after training I looked over the new "Head Quarters". A place almost halfway up the west coast, a sky scraper formerly owned by the League. From the outside the building was an apartment complex and we, as the new owners would gain profits from the people renting. It was a tall fancy needle building, almost a T shape if you included the large disc at the top that included restaurants and cafe's.

The Headquarters itself was beneath the building, a large cavern complex that stretched nearly halfway across the city and would allow us to come and go as we pleased.

That was when the initial hit began. The communicators, and in Starfire's case; Magic Book that each of us used began blaring an alert. The Alert was simple, a hotline to the Justice League, mostly functioning as a Dispatch Service. Our handler was a girl known as 'Hotwire', a young girl with electricity, possibly internet related powers. She appeared on our screens as we answered.

"Teen Titans, we have news. We know your Teacher is currently out on scouting and reconiscance, but the announced operations by the Inscrutable Machine appear to be happening Now. We need teams mobilizing. The Heroes; The Flash, Martian Manhunter and Wonder Woman are dispatching to possible targets, we need a team to activate in these locations. Can you Dispatch!"

This was a call to arms.

I stood, beaming at the worried girl, probably no older than me and looked at my team-mates as they assembled into the room. An unknown alien quantity. The sister of a former supervillain. I could maybe make this work?

"Yes maam' give us a target and we'll move out!"

The video of the heroine swapped out for a map, "One or both of these sites are expected to contain a mix of Inscrutable Machine, and their Patsies. Other heroes will be on site. Currently an operation known as Teddy Bear Hunt is taking place alongside two others, a robbery at the museum of villain history, and a similar Robbery at the Palmer Research Institute." The map switched out for a roster, "On site heroes will be assisting, please work with them!" I nodded my response.

"Thanks, you're orders are to -" She hesitated a moment, "Okay. The Flash and Martian Manhunter are on site in Central City, We ask that you divide your team. The Museum of Villainy is considered a hard target, nothing truly dangerous is there but it's more heavily fortified. Palmer as a research lab will need your tech wizards, dispatch as needed. Go armed for bear!"

I nodded my reply, "We already have members in the field that can dispatch to the Museum, I'll have Lena fly us to the second site!"

The channel cut and we got dressed. The new uniforms were still coming, planned to arrive next week so like usual the Titan Jackets I'd commissioned earlier were our hero credentials. As a licensed sidekick I ... That was going to change soon wasn't it. Soon I would have to upgrade to a hero licence. I shook myself out and prepared for the mission.

"Alright Everybody, you heard the instructions. Gather up, gather up!" We converged on the jet, "The rest of you are deputised heroes except for myself and supergirl. This op will be all about working with other heroes, and will go a long way to getting you certified. Respect any heroes, cops or emergency services you meet. Make sure they respect you back! Lets get too it!"

"Yes Robin!" Star and Lena chimed in, big grins on their faces.

I tried to hide my grin, okay so I'd been acting like a drill Sergeant. "You two won't take me seriously will you!"

"It was a good speech!" Starfire asserted, "Good bit of yelling. I liked it!"

Leaving her flight mech behind, Lena ran ahead into the Jet, she was going for basic powered Armour with a light weapons mount. Good for speed. Starfire immediately called out "OOOH, can I sit up front!" and had a brief struggle with Lena.

"I need to be here, so I can pilot this thing!" Lena was ineffectual at moving the alien entity off the seat.

"But I don't like being up back, the closed up spaces. They, if I have to ride in machines I want to see out!" Starfire didn't actually sit in the seat, just hovered like a foot above it. I rolled my eyes at the scene.

"Then you can float near the seat but not in it!" I told her, taking 'shotgun' for myself. It was further back and actually had controls for the on-board weapons mount.

While Lena took off, I grabbed my phone and sent Brian a message.
