Cold, freezing cold. That would totally sum up today's temperature.
"Young master, we've arrived. "
My butler, Min Ho hyung, said.
"Gomaweo, hyung."
I slowly closed the car's door and quietly made my way to Mr. Xi's house.
"Min Seok, I assume that you already mastered the complete version of the Requiem? Play for me."
He ordered me with his weird accent that would make him sound like a Mexican guy rather than an English man.
I started playing the first staff as perfectly as I could. Just when I was about to get lost in the world of music, screams coming from the outside brought me back to the real world.
I took a glance at the windows and saw a petite-looking guy dribbling a soccer ball with graceful movements. He turned his head, and for a moment, we stared into each other's eyes. He quickly took his gaze off me and continued to move forward with the ball dancing around his feet.
Little did I notice that my rhythm is slowly getting imperfect, and I was woken up by the crispy sound of Mr. Xi's stick against the piano's head.
"Never lose focus, Kim Min Seok."
"Yes, sir."
As my fingers danced across the black and white keys, my mind wandered to the beautiful creature that I just saw.
---
"You've played well. As expected from a child prodigy."
"I told you Mr. Xi. I am no prodigy."
"In my eyes, you are."
Mr. Xi eyed me with pride, the same look that my clan gives me everytime we meet at gatherings or meetings.
I just ignored him and proceeded to the door with my music scores on my hand.
And I saw him again. That boy. He was sitting on the bench outside the servant's quarters. He caught my gaze, and bowed.
"Mr. Xi, who is that boy?"
"Who?"
I pointed at the retreating figure of the boy. I saw Mr. Xi as he looked at the boy with a sad expression.
"He is no one, young master. You shouldn't be bothered by his presence. "
"Bu-"
"Off you go now. Your butler is here."
He pushed me slightly, trying to shoo me away.
