6:45 am - Tuesday - Komi Residence
BEEP BEEP BEEP B-
A quiet groan escaped from Shousuke as he got up to get ready for school at Itan High.
snore... Shousuke went straight back to bed right after.
8:06 am
"Shousuke!!! Hurry up, you're gonna be late for school!" yelled Shousuke's mom from downstairs.
Shousuke heard her and finally woke up. He looked at his clock.
"..." Shousuke stared at his clock with a blank expression before realizing he was late. "!?"
FWOOSH
He quickly got up and started changing into his uniform.
"Where's that girl who always comes by to pick you up, Shousuke?" said his mom.
Usually, Hitomi would spam call Shousuke to wake him up for school or drag him out of bed herself.
He couldn't help but feel a little irritated that she didn't come to get him. But he could only blame himself for being late.
Zip. Rustle. Tap Tap.
"Have a good day at school, honey!" yelled his mom as he started bolting out the front door.
8:27 am - Itan High
Huff Huff Hu- Shousuke held his hand over his chest. His chest felt tight. His breathing slowly started to calm down. He quickly changed his shoes and started speed walking towards his first class of the day.
"Shousuke... a little late today, aren't we?" said his teacher, Ms. Miwa.
"..." Shousuke was still trying to calm his breathing from running all the way to school. "Sorry," he replied.
"It's alright. Please take your seat."
"By the way, do you happen to know why Hitomi isn't here? You two always seem to get here together," said Ms. Miwa to Shousuke.
"No... sorry," replied Shousuke.
"Well, alright. Let's get class started. Start taking ou-"
Shousuke realized that Hitomi wasn't here. He gazed at her seat, wondering why she didn't come today.
"..." He was sort of relieved that he could finally have some peace and quiet for once. But deep down, he couldn't shake off the feeling of worry for Hitomi.
The rest of the school day was boring. Usually, Hitomi would be at his side, annoying the absolute **** out of him, but today it felt quiet. Lonely.
3:27 pm - On the Way Home
On the way home, all Shousuke could think of was whether Hitomi was okay. He quickly tried to forget about it.
5:40 pm - Komi Residence
It was no use. Shousuke just couldn't forget about Hitomi. He tried studying, playing on his PC, working out, but nothing seemed to work. He had been sitting at his desk for the past 30 minutes, staring at his phone.
"..." He thought maybe he should send an email to her to make sure she was okay.
Tap Tap Tap |You didn't come to school today. Are you okay?|
He waited a while for a response but never received one. He thought about asking his sister for Hitomi's address to check up on her in person.
Knock Knock Click Clack Shouku peeked out her door and saw her brother.
Tap Tap... |Do you need something?| wrote Shouku on her phone.
"Do you know where Hitomi lives..." Shousuke felt a little embarrassed asking for someone's address.
Shouku stared at him with a blank expression before typing, |Yes, why?|
"Can I have it?..." asked Shousuke.
Tap Tap |Oh. I don't think it's my place to share that information. I can ask Tadano if you want.|
"Never mind th-..."
Brzz Brzz Tap Tap |He said it was okay...| Shouku was already asking Tadano before Shousuke realized.
"Thanks..." said Shousuke.
Tap Tap |No problem.| wrote Shouku.
Shousuke stared at his phone for quite a bit, looking at Hitomi's address. "..."
He decided that tomorrow he would visit Hitomi and check up on her.
