The Next Day

Lia's P.O.V

Swiftly getting out of my car, I admire the aesthetic of the house's exterior as the vague breeze moves through my wavy hair. Smiling, I like to think of the good memories Yeji must've made while finally being free of the shackles that once held her down, and I'd like to thank whoever put the missing joy in her voice.

Sighing, I approach the door and raise my hand to knock but decide to press the door bell instead and the moment I do just that, I hear a pair of shuffling feet scurrying towards the front door. "Lia!!" Yeji calls with a cheery tone in her voice while she hurriedly opens the door and lets me in, "Oh My LORD! You're finally here" Giggling, I let her admire my now matured features as well as my newly dyed hair. "Come on" I chortled happily whilst I held out my arms, giving an opening to a loving hug. "I actually can't believe it, how was Canada" Babbled Yeji whilst she couldn't hold back her stance as she kept applying small little jumps to her movements which seemed to add more to her big smile.

"Canada was good once I was there for 2 years already, but then you know I got cut from the audition" I say while my voice lowers from disappointment. "Do you have any sort of solution?" Yeji asks as she knows I'm too stubborn to just let go of being a singer, "Well this is the part you'll love" I tell Yeji whilst her eyes widen in a bit of confusion, "Oh come on just tell me already" Yeji complains as the suspense was held for a bit too long. "I'm transferring to Hanlim Multi Arts University to continue pursuing my dreams" I practically shouted out in joy while Yeji couldn't stop squealing with such excitement.

"You're back in my life and I couldn't be more happy about that" Yeji recited with sincerity in her eyes and voice, I almost teared up, my bestie of so many years is finally reunited with me. Seeing her face to face makes me unimaginably happy however I can't help but be curious.

Why'd she run away from her parent's house?

That was now all I could think about while she continued on talking about how her life at Hanlim Multi Arts is, I guess now she thinks I need to know everything especially the gossip.

"Hey Yeji, umm, don't mind me for asking but..." I reconsidered if this was too personal though we shared everything with each other, I shared with her my divorced parent's affairs and how heartbroken my step mother would be and she shared with me how dull her house was, how dull her family was and how she wished her life were different.

I didn't think it had gotten so bad.

I mean even if she didn't necessarily loved her father or appreciated her mother, she still talked about how her mother still cherished some part of her or how her parent's only wanted the best for her.

Something really bad must've happened for her to decide to leave without them ever knowing.

"Why'd you leave your parents" I mused with a tone that was very much tender.

Observing her, I wondered why she seemed so stunned by just that sentence, her skin seemed a bit paler and her eyes seemed to be a little glassier than before. I wondered if this was too much for her, it looked as if she'd break if I pressed too far but I urged myself to continue this.
