The World Beyond The Gate Part 1

                                                           The Next morning Valenthia comes down ready for school, John gives her a bowl of cereal for her breakfast while Valentino and Anthia are still asleep Valenthia smiles and starts to eat the cereal her fangs are not showing just yet as she is only ten the first fang doesn't come til a vampire is fifteen or sixteen at most even then a young vampire still gives off traits of being a vampire so she knows that she must be careful at the school and to not to tip anyone off that she or her family are vampires, Once Valenthia has finished her breakfast John looks at her and smiles kindly
"Are you ready for your first day?"
"I am ready yes" Valenthia replies excited she stands up and gets her coat and bag on waiting for John she smiles holding her hand out to him, John gets his hat and coat on he takes her hand and smiles
"Now as far as the school are concerned I am your grandfather alright however if you feel confortable you are welcome to call me Grandpa"
"I am happy to call you Grandpa John" Valenthia smiles holding his hand, John smiles for the first time in a long time holding her hand he starts walking to the gate with her and asks
"So are you excited for your first day?"
"Yes Grandpa I am very excited for my first day" Valenthia smiles
John smiles as they get to the gate he looks at Valenthia and asks to be sure
"Now we're at the gate are you sure you are ready to go to school?"
Valenthia looks at John, looks at the gate then looks back at John and nods that she is ready, John smiles and opens the gate and goes out of the gate with her walking to the school with her holding her hand Valenthia looks around at all the trees listening to the sights and sounds feeling a bit less nervous about the outside world and more and more excited about what this world could bring she smiles as they get towards the school gate but then that is when the nerves hit once more. As John opens the school gate and takes her in she sees all the other children running around playing with others having never seen any other children before or even met another child properly besides that mysterious boy she hides behind John nervous and worried about who all of these are when she sees that mysterious boy once more standing with his two parents she starts to come out from behind John, the boy runs over with his parents and smiles
"You're here that's great I was hoping you'd come my name is Robin what's your name?"
Valenthia looks shyly at him wondering if she should tell him her name she looks hesitant, John nods at her to say that she can say her name
"V...Valenthia is my name" She tells Robin hesitantly
"It's nice to meet you Valenthia" Robin replies smiling then continues "I'll see you in class"
Valenthia nods then smiles the female teacher looks at Valenthia and states
"I'm Mrs Taylor Robin's mother I'm also your new teacher the headmistress is Mrs Williamson will be holding an assembly at lunchtime" Maria states smiling
"and I'm Mr Taylor Robin's father I am the year one teacher but you are in Mrs Taylors class as you are ten" James replies also smiling
Valenthia nods smiling, as the couple and their son walk off Thia looks at John and asks
"Grandpa what is an assembly?"
"It's like a big meeting but instead it's where the teachers talk to the students instead about what's expected for the year and what's going to happen at the end of the year and what the rules are"
Valenthia nods thinking she understands what John said hugs him gently then goes off to join the rest of her class John hugs her back smiles and waits til they've gone inside then heads back to the house, once he does he sees Valentino and Anthia awake once more he reports to them that Valenthia has safely gone to school and that there has been no trouble thus far Valentino and Anthia are pleased to hear this and hopes the rest of the day goes just as well.
                                                                     While Valenthia is at school she is walking towards her first lesson Thia feels slightly out of place as everyone is staring at her her pale complexion making her stand out from the rest that was for sure Thia felt that no one wanted her near so with that she slumped off to class and sat down on the only seat available Robin came and sat next to her she smiled thankful that she had one friend even though she didn't really know him all that well Robin looks at Valenthia as she looks very confused he states to her
"What is wrong?"
"I...I...I don't understand any of this what does any of this mean?" Valenthia asks looking confused
Robin takes a look at it and states
"Ah yes I see what this is it's simple Mathematics have you never done maths before"
Valenthia shakes her head and answers honestly
"N...no I haven't"
"I will help you with the Mathematics" Robin states smiling
"I...w....well maybe you can come to m...mine but I...I'd have to ask grandpa John and m...my parents"
"Of course if I'd be glad to help but if I can't come to your house I can help you at lunchtime if that is preferable" Robin replies smiling
Valenthia nods still nervous then nervously asks him
"H...how do I solve these now?" Valenthia starts to tear up "I...I'm gonna be kicked out of the school I'm gonna fail school...m..my parents and grandpa John will be so upset with me for failing"
"Valenthia relax relax you're not going to fail this is simple maths I will help you and so will the teachers" Robin reassures her rubbing her back, Valenthia jumps when he touches her having never really been touched by anyone but her parents and John, Robin sensed her jump and her nervousness and takes his hand of her back still reassuring her "If you don't get simple maths it doesn't mean you're gonna fail it just means you're not good at maths and that's not a bad thing some people are good at some things and bad at others for example I'm terrible at sports but brilliant at maths everyone is different"
"S...so I won't fail just because I'm not good at Maths?"
"Of course not Valenthia" Robin reassured her "It's rare to fail at school you just need help catching up that's all"
Valenthia nods and wipes her eyes from sniffling so much that is when she notices there is a slight bit of blood coming from her eyes she quickly grabs a tissue turning away from Robin and wipes her eyes properly so he doesn't see she turns back to him crumpling the tissue in her hand and puts it in her pocket and asks him still nervous
"T....thank you Robin I appreciate all of this, will you help me with this?"
"Valenthia of course I will and what can I call you for a nickname?" Robin replies with a question smiling
"What is a nickname?" Valenthia asks confused once more
"A nickname is a name that you call someone to shorten their name a bit like a term of endearment" Robin answers confidently
"In that case you can call me Thia" Valenthia responds to him smiling
"Well Thia we are almost at the end of the lessons so as it's break how's about I start helping you with the maths" Robin asks caringly
"I'd like that thank you" Valenthia smiles and as the bell rings she starts to pack up her books, pens and pencils and follows Robin out of the classroom.
                                                                           Robin takes her to the nearest bench in the school grounds sits down on the rickety old bench and table and gets out his maths books, Valenthia also does the same sitting next to him which is when Mrs Taylor walks over looking at them she asks kindly
"Shouldn't you both be playing games instead of maths work?"
"Yes mum but Thia is behind so I'm helping her catch up, is that alright mum?" Robin asks worried, it is at this moment Mrs Taylor smiles
"Of course that is alright Robin I think you're doing a wonderful thing we'll get you something for this you're such a good boy but as long as you do some playing later at lunchtime, Thia don't ever be afraid to ask for help alright"
"Yes Mrs Taylor and thank you" Thia replies smiling
"Yes mum we promise to play later"
Robin smiles as his mum walks away and starts to help Thia with the maths, Mr Taylor is about to walk over and tell them to go and play when Mrs Taylor explains what Robin is doing it's at this Mr Taylor breaks out into a wide smile pleased that his son is doing something kind and helping others before helping himself Mr and Mrs Taylor walk around checking all the other children making sure they are doing alright, Robin continues to help Valenthia catch up with the maths as well as a couple of other subjects that are coming up that day.
                                                        Meanwhile Valentino and Anthia are back at home making the more habitable as much as possible without going outside as it's daylight, Valentino walks over to his wife and hugs her from behind kissing her cheek smiling knowing that everything is going for well so far, John also is helping paint things and setting up the tv that Valentino asked him to purchase Valentino wasn't really keen on him and his family being glued to this so called box that entertains however he was willing to allow some time for tv as it wouldnt be fair for Valenthia to miss out on everything human but he also knew that in a few short years Valenthia would be taking her blood test and that makes him a bit nervous hoping that he can prepare her for what is to come and the hope that she will pass it but for now he had less to worry about currently she was merely going to school and getting grades he will worry about the blood test nearer the time for now he will focus on his family and what they can achieve, after all Valenthia is merely a young vampire who doesn't have any fangs yet but with very little vampiric traits he knows that his little daughter is growing up, Anthia looks at Valentino and smiles about to give him fantastic news she tells him
"My love you know how you wanted to extend our family?"
"Yes indeed I remember my dear baby" Valentino confirms smiling
Anthia smiles as she shows Valentino the positive pregnancy test Valentino smiles and kisses her stating
"Oh my love that is the best news I have heard all night oh my bat I am so happy"
"I am just as happy my prince of dakrness" Anthia replies smiling "I hope Valenthia will be just as happy"
"I'm sure she will be my dear bat" Valentino replies smiling
Anthia smiles cuddling up to Valentino her hand on her stomach glad for another miracle.
                                            Hours Later Valenthia is picked up from school she's talking to John about Robin potentially coming around to help her with the maths and other subjects, John tells Valenthia that she would have to ask her mother and father about it but also that they have something to tell her as well he smiles as he walks with Robin and Valenthia, As John walks through the gate with Valenthia she says goodbye to Robin and his parents then goes through the gate with John Valenthia smiles and goes into the house with John, Valentino and Anthia goes over to their daughter smiling
"My dear sweet little girl we have good news for you" Valentino states smiling
"Your father and I will understand if you are upset but you're gonna be a big sister" Anthia confirms
"Are you adopting?" Valenthia asks
"No sweetie no, I'm pregnant" Anthia replies smiling
Valenthia squeaks and hugs her mum smiling Anthia states
"You're happy then?"
"Mum of course Im happy I'm gonna be a big sister but I also have a question" Valenthia replies gulping
"What is the question?" Valentino asks
"Can Robin come round and help me with the maths and other subjects for school?"
"Who is Robin? is he another vampire?" Valentino questions
"No he's the boy that was at the gate he's helping me catch up so I don't fail school" Valenthia answers
"You want a breather to come into this abandoned home to help you with subjects" Valentino questions slightly angry
"Darling remember we said we would let her make her own mistakes and if indeed this breather is helping our little girl try and pass school I see no reason for her to not have this breather help her" Anthia reasons
"You are right once again my love, very well this breather can help her but he must never find out what we are understood" Valentino reasons
"Of course father I understand completey"  Valenthia agrees "I will make sure he doesn't find out about what we are father"
"Thank you my little bat" Valentino replies smiling then tells her concerned "Because if he does I may have to take drastic measures to ensure he doesn't tell anyone else"
"Yes father I understand" Valenthia replies knowing that she must keep her word then asks "Am I allowed to tell Robin the good news that I'm about to be a big sister?"
"Well of course sweetheart you can tell him that" Anthia smiles then states "Just don't say anything about us being vampires"
"No mama I won't say anything about us being vampires" Valenthia replies
Anthia smiles and hugs her daughter close to her then asks her
"What would you prefer a brother or a sister?"
"I don't really mind I will love my brother or sister the same"
"Though you do know that if it is a boy he would inherit the house" Valentino states "bloodlines go from boy to boy not boy to girl"
"Yes I'm aware father but what do girls get?"
"Marriage mostly darling and to bring heirs however if you have a little sister we will have to relax the rule of it going boy to boy and instead have it go from boy to girl instead" Anthia confirms "However if indeed we do have a boy perhaps it won't be so bad for you as you are the oldest we will still give you as much as we can darling"
"Yes indeed but if we do have a boy he would inherit the house but we would still give you all the riches we can my little bat" Valentino also confirms, Valenthia smiles and states
"That's alright I wouldn't mind not inheriting the house because when I am older I could get my own house and live how I wish to live"
Valentino and Anthia smiles knowing that she is correct and that she would be allowed to live how she wished to but not until she was at least eighteen as her fangs don't come in til she was sixteen, the three spend the rest of the night pondering what may be to come and what may happen in the future, what their daughter will become and if indeed what this baby will be as vampire pregnancies do not last long however they do look forward to the future and hope that the future will be better for all three of them as long as the breathers don't find out what they are or who they are, they do have high hopes that they won't be found out.
