The unusual sound of humming and the occasional clattering filled the kitchen of the Liones household on a Saturday morning. The splatter of sizzling oil accompanied the humming and clattering, an aroma of strawberries, sugar and cooking pancake batter filling the air. Along with these unusual sounds and smells, was the sight of Elizabeth Liones at the stove. Silver hair was tied into a ponytail, a few tendrils escaping to frame her rounded face, as blue eyes focused intently on the frying batter.
It wasn't normal for Elizabeth to be awake so early, especially on a Saturday, but today she was. The teen was there in the kitchen, using the large range cooker, and cutely sticking her tongue out as she tried to flip the pancakes without breaking or wasting them. As a result loud clattering followed, Elizabeth's clumsy nature allowing her mishaps with oil and cooking to occur. Leading to pancakes being stuck to the ceiling and floor.
"You're up early for a Saturday," Margaret, one of Elizabeth's older sisters, raised a brow as she grabbed her usual coffee mug from the cupboard. Long indigo hair spilled from her head, warm chocolate eyes focusing cautiously on the sizzling frying pan. The sizzling frying pan that her naturally clumsy sister was operating.
"Meliodas and I made plans," Elizabeth answered simply, attention still focused on the pan as she shrugged. "It's what we do every summer."
"Oh yes, those great 'adventures' you always speak of," Margaret nodded, a teasing lilt to her voice as she started the coffeemaker.
As expected for the summer break, Elizabeth and Meliodas had come up with a way to spend every day. It was an odd tradition of theirs, the pair often spending majority of their summer mucking and loitering about the city. There had been multiple occasions when Margaret had stumbled across the pair, the older sister noting how their 'adventures' gradually grew more and more adventurous. In fact there were times they'd disappear for a whole day.
But for the first and last days of every summer, the duo always did the same thing. They always had for as long as they'd known each other.
Veronica, the middle Liones sister, entered the kitchen next. She still looked rather tired, her eyes bleary and hooded as she shuffled towards the cupboards and collected herself a mug. Unlike the other Liones sisters, Veronica was more spunky and feisty. That meant she could be extremely headstrong, causing grumpy mornings and frumpy period mood swings. As a result it wasn't surprising when she rolled her eyes at the sound of the doorbell.
Only one person would dare to ring it so early on a Saturday.
"Looks like your boyfriend's here," Veronica snickered, amusement filling her features as Elizabeth's face erupted into pink.
It was always entertaining to watch Elizabeth react to certain things, especially when it involves her being flustered or bashful. Well, that and mentioning her 'oh-so-dear' Meliodas. The youngest Liones sister always doted upon her friend. Therefore the middle sister gave an amused smirk despite it being so early and before her daily cup of Joe.
"He's here already?" Elizabeth raised a brow as she turned off the stove, carefully packaging her pancakes. She moved extremely delicately with those, knowing that she needed them for later on in the day - even though she wasn't the best cook.
"Well, you did get up early," Margaret answered with a simple smile, brown eyes filled with amusement as she poured herself some freshly made coffee. She then grabbed a pastry from the lidded plate, noting that they were left over from yesterday. "Plus you wait all year just for this six week period."
"True," Elizabeth nodded, packing away the breakfast she had so carefully crafted.
She then snuck in a quick finger-dip into the sugar bowl she'd left out, quickly eating the evidence before her sisters could scold her. Elizabeth was then out the front door, practically laughing as she predicted the face Meliodas would make this time from her cooking.
