A/N: Coco inspired this one. Well, the song Everyone Knows Juanita. So...
.....
Everyone knows Elizabeth. Who wouldn't know Elizabeth Liones?
She owned two beautiful eyes, one the colour of the azure skies that lay above the earth, and one the warm amber shade of a topaz gemstone. A cutely softened button nose lay above naturally pinked and plush lips, and she always smelt of warm honey, strawberries and sugar. A nest of wonderfully silver hair trailed down to her lower back, the locks always shimmering in the sunlight of the day, and her face would always form into the warmest of smiles for whomever would pass her way.
She would walk into a room and cause all heads to turn, her confident but polite stance always forming an air of grace and innocence. She would flash a smile, her usual stunning and friendly smile, before making her way to wherever she needed to be. Her differently shaded eyes would scan through all the faces, would not look at anyone with hatred, prejudice or malice - only warmth - and she would continue on her way. She would not give you another glance.
But somehow you always feel that one was enough. You would always feel that one of Elizabeth's smiles would melt away the many years of harsh and frigid winters you'd had to endure through your life. That just one look, one glance, would fill you with enough of her kindness to change you forevermore.
Everyone knew of Elizabeth Liones. Everyone wanted to be or be with Elizabeth Liones.
But unlike the rest, unlike everyone else, Meliodas knew that she was above and beyond anything he could ever hope to reach. Both literally and figuratively - as he was shorter than her. She was like a star up there in the sky, while he was the darkness that she worked so very hard to erase and keep at bay.
He owned golden blonde hair and a set of green eyes that could flash like a fire when he had certain ideas in his mind. His features were babyish, deceiving of his true age, and suggesting an innocence that had been stripped away from him at a very young age. He had tanned skin and an intellect that many would not guess he had when he played his cards right.
Pair that with his healthy physique and knowledge on the corruption of the real world, and despite Meliodas' short height, you could tell that he made up for it in other ways. He didn't let it stop him from being someone people would respect and fear and that paralleled with Elizabeth Liones completely.
While Elizabeth was sweet and kind and beautiful, Meliodas was blackened and malformed and ugly. Where she was generous, Meliodas was unsympathetic: he didn't care for much and didn't care for many people nor things. He lacked the innocence and beauty that she saw in the world. He lacked the wonder of rose tinted glasses. Just as how while Elizabeth was friendly, the blonde would easily shut off anyone who came to talk to him.
Even the way in which Elizabeth was beautiful, gorgeous, was different. While she was innocent and lovable, Meliodas himself was someone who caused the wrong type of attraction. He didn't spark love or a feeling of beauty; he caused lust and uncontrolled desire. The sort of attraction that led to bitter feuds and violent crimes.
He was like an oleander: amazing to look at but deadly to touch. Elizabeth herself was like a camellia: fragrant and sweet with no hidden threats.
And that is why Meliodas figured Elizabeth would never notice, let alone not fear, someone like him. Someone who was grim and aware of the harsh reality that made up their world. Meliodas was the sort of person to not fear those who were involved in the underworld. He had joined it to a certain degree.
And yet, he couldn't help but notice her. He couldn't help but notice the small glimpse of warmth that Elizabeth brought to his eternally frozen life. Even if it was just for a few short seconds each day. Even if it was just through a single smile.
He would see her walk in, think about how if he was anyone else then perhaps he could have known her better. Perhaps he could get as close to her as Mael, her picture perfect boyfriend. He could love her with everything he had, everything he could possibly be. He would show her the small parts of beauty that were shrouded in the darkness of his traumas and memories.
But then at the thought of Mael, Meliodas would be plunged right back into reality, right back into the situation of which fate had dealt him with. He'd remember that Elizabeth was perfect and flawless, kind and caring, while he was a monster.
She deserved someone like Mael, someone who wasn't shrouded with darkness and hatred. She didn't deserve someone like Meliodas, who was something that was terrible and cold, all fearing his wrath once it had been awakened.
But even so, the blonde could always feel a smile twitching whenever he saw her. He would always smile directly at her and could always see himself talking to her, befriending her. Perhaps even changing for the better for her.
And it all seemed tempting. It seemed like something that could be possible.
After all, perhaps if he wasn't so ugly, so monstrous, she'd possibly give him a chance...
