Before I begin, I would like to point out once more that this is a fanfiction of the TV show "The Wilds" season 2. It is rated mature because it will cover topics just like the show did. Please read at your own risk. (Honestly, I don't know what's going to happen in this story so I'm writing it just in case.) Enjoy.
The first thing Cassie felt when she woke up, was the cold. Body numbing cold. It took a second to remember the plane crash, and another second to figure out she was in the ocean draped over a wooden board.
About fifty yards out was an island surrounded by debris. Deciding that she would rather die on an island than in the ocean, Cassie stayed on the board and kicked forward. It took forever but she finally stumbled onto the beach. The boys that were on the plane too were already there sitting in the sand. A couple was staring at the ocean, one was swearing, and the others looked like they didn't know what to do with themselves.
"Hey," she plopped down in the sand, not even bothering to introduce herself. "Thanks for checking the shore for anyone left behind."
"Oh! You're the girl!" One kid said.
"No shit," She sassed.
One of the guys was pacing back and forth, muttering to himself, "Maybe it will be fun she said. Or maybe I'll learn what it's like to absolutely and extremely hate you!"
He rambled on before kicking a rock as hard as he could. Everyone else laughed.
"I'm sorry," one said. "But I can't just pretend that wasn't funny."
The others cracked up too, one of them went from laughing to crying. They paused.
"You okay?" Cassie asked.
"No, we're not!" A goth kid with glasses answered.
"Henry, come on," another one warned. "Not now."
Henry turned his head, "What? We're either lost, dead, or raptured. None of us are okay."
"I'll rephrase," Cassie said. "Are you doing okay considering a plane crashed and left us on an island?"
The kid who was crying nodded but his lip was trembling. A tall blonde walked over to them, "Why are you doing that?"
"Doing what?"
"Crying."
"It's fine actually. It's healthy really. And I think it should be more normalized as a behavior."
"Especially since were stranded on a deserted island," Cassie muttered. She was surprised that she wasn't crying yet. Maybe it hadn't hit her.
The blonde rolled his eyes, "Who came with this kid?"
A kid standing farther away from the group raised his hand.
"Is he always like this?"
"I don't really know." He walked closer to them.
"We're in different friend groups," the crying one answered. "Hi, Rafe."
"Whatever look, we've been sitting on our asses for too long. Let's quit crying and do something."
The kid who knew Henry stepped toward, " Uh hey man, what's your name again?"
Before the blonde could answer, someone else did. "He'll tell you it's Kirin but we all know he's a natural-born Chad."
"Don't start Taylor," Kirin warned. "Don't even start."
"Okay, some history there," the one who previously asked said. "Uh look Kirin, why don't we just let Josh be Josh for a second. We've all been dropped into some like a live-action fever dream. We should probably normalize having any reaction we want. Like swearing at your mom then go for it."
