Apologies in advance. This chapter is pretty slow and in my opinion, the worst one I've written. Don't say I didn't warn you. (Don't forget to comment and vote)

She woke up in the middle of the night with bile rising in her throat. Cass shoved off her blanket and stumbled outside. She barely made it behind the shelter when she threw up. When she finished, she paused to see if she woke anybody up but nobody stirred.

"Cassie?" Someone's voice called to her softly from inside the shelter.

Okay, Henry was awake.

"Are you sick?"

"Yeah."

"It's probably from the fish, you ate it too fast. Plus with recent events, your body is reacting to it."

"Oh yay," she said flatly.

"Hold on."

She heard some shuffling going around it was quiet. Cassie leaned in close and could hear Henry waking up Kirin.

"Hey Kirin, wake up."

"What?"

"Your girl is sick."

She heard more movement and Kirin approached her with a water bottle, a toothbrush, and toothpaste.

"Where's Henry?"

Kirin yawned, "Went back to bed."

Cassie went to thank him when she felt the bile again in her throat, she turned around and threw up. At least she tried to, there was nothing left in her stomach but her body didn't seem to know that. She felt Kirin go behind her and hold her hair back until she was finished. They sat down on a log.

"Thanks."

"Yup."

Cassie took the water from him and drank a lot, "My momma would've loved you."

"Really?"

"Yeah, she always told me: It doesn't matter where they come from, what color their skin is, tall or short, skinny or fat. Just get yourself someone who will hold your hair back as you jogar fora, throw up. And it seems like you held my hair back. Plus she has a thing for blondes."

"Is your dad blonde?"

"Nope, black hair, and blue eyes."

"You don't look like him."

"My brother does. I look more like mom."

Cassie stood up and stretched, "Well thanks again. I'm going down to the water to clean up."

"It's the middle of the night," Kirin said. "You'll be freezing."

"I'm always freezing. Now go back to bed."

She grabbed the toothbrush and toothpaste and headed down to the water before Kirin could argue with her more.

Cassie brushed her teeth twice, then spent the rest of the time floating on her back. The water was cold but eventually, it numbed her body until she couldn't feel it. It was relaxing and she marveled at the stars. She has never seen this many stars, in Vegas, there were so many lights that you could barely see the sky.

Eventually, she climbed out of the water and changed. She grabbed her jaguar pelt and wrapped herself in it. Cassie didn't want to go back into the shelter and wake everyone up, so she sat there and watched the sunrise.

"Hey Cass," Ivan joined her on the beach. "Feeling better?"

"Yeah, thanks. Why are you up so early?"

"I always wake up early."
